Baby Reindeer’s Richard Gadd shares exciting cast update on new BBC drama

As a devoted admirer of Richard Gadd, I’m thrilled to share that he’s dropped a tantalizing tidbit about his upcoming venture, “Half Man”. This talented star has spilled the beans on some intriguing cast updates!

The BBC series features Gadd and Jamie Bell portraying brothers Ruben and Niall, who have a strained relationship. Their animosity escalates after an unanticipated encounter at Niall’s wedding. Over nearly four decades, from the 1980s to the present day, the story will explore the ups and downs of their contentious bond.

In Glasgow, where filming is actively ongoing for a six-part series, it’s been officially announced that Gadd and Bell will work alongside Mitchell Robertson and Stuart Campbell. Their roles include portraying the youthful counterparts of Ruben and Niall in the production.

Additionally, Neve McIntosh, Marianne McIvor, Charlie De Melo, Bilal Hasna, Julie Cullen, Amy Manson, Philippine Velge, Stuart McQuarrie, Piers Ewart, Scot Greenan, Charlotte Blackwood, and Calum Manchip are also part of the team.

After traveling extensively and encountering exceptional talents across the nation, I’m thrilled to be part of this talented team we’ve assembled,” said Gadd, who is not only directing but also writing and producing the upcoming series, expressing his delight about the recent cast announcement.

I’m eagerly anticipating our diverse group of actors, both young and experienced, to breathe life into these characters. I’m confident that audiences will grow just as fond of these performers as I have become,” he added, while Tally Garner and Morven Reid from Mam Tor Productions expressed their pleasure with the “exceptional” cast selection.

According to the summary, “Half Man” explores the ups and downs of the brothers’ bond, taking us from their initial encounter as teenagers to their eventual estrangement as adults. This journey encompasses a variety of experiences, ranging from heartwarming to heartbreaking, humorous to heated, and everything in between.

Additionally, it’s said that the “grimy” and “stormy” series is set to portray the raw dynamism of an evolving city – an ever-changing world, indeed – and delve into the challenging query: “What defines masculinity in today’s society?

2026 sees me eagerly tuning into Half Man on BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and BBC Scotland here in the UK, as well as on HBO in the States. On the other hand, I’ve already binge-watched Baby Reindeer to my heart’s content on Netflix.
