Home And Away Star Cancer-Free After 10 Years

Previously recognized Home and Away actress, Tessa James, has shared some news about her current health status following a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Back in 2014, when Tessa was only 23 years old, she received a diagnosis for her health condition, which she had portrayed as Nicole Franklin on the hit soap opera from 2008 to 2011.

After a full ten years, Tessa, aged 33, posted a collection of pictures on Instagram last Tuesday, recounting her battle with cancer.

A previous photograph depicted the actress with a bald head, and another captured her beaming as she underwent chemotherapy treatment.

Captioning the images, Tessa shared the exciting news that she is now cancer free.

10 years back, Tessa completed a 6-month course of chemotherapy treatment following her diagnosis with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. (This version maintains the original meaning but uses simpler and more concise language.)

Today, I am delighted to announce that I am cancer-free! I’m blessed with four vibrant, thriving children. I feel deeply grateful for this life-changing experience and all the lessons it has taught me.

News of Tessa’s achievement was greeted with numerous messages of congratulations from friends and admirers, as they applauded her for reaching this significant health milestone.

‘You’re amazing and inspirational,’ one commented. ‘Sending lots of love to you, Tessa.’

Another joined the conversation, expressing something similar: ‘What a fighter!!! I adored you on Home and Away, and I still do!’ (Informal)

A second person added their thoughts, echoing: ‘You’re such a warrior!! I’ve always been a fan of yours on Home and Away and continue to be!’ (Formal)

What a remarkable inspiration you have been, managing to conquer cancer with such courage, bravery, and elegance! Your children will be incredibly grateful for your exceptional resilience and unyielding spirit.

Tessa is wedded to ex-NRL star Nate Myles, and they have four kids collectively: Saynt (age 6), Jaguar (3 years old), London (2), and a newborn born in July 2024.

They tied the knot in 2011 before welcoming their first child, Saynt, in December 2017.

Tessa’s pregnancy came three years after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Speaking about her diagnosis in 2018, Tessa said that the disease stripped her of certainties.

She shared with Women’s Health Magazine that battling a condition similar to cancer leaves you feeling fundamentally changed, affecting both your physical being and your mental state.

Tessa added her cancer battle had brought her family closer together.

As a devoted admirer, I’d say, “Being a tight-knit family was already our norm, but your exploits and appearances have taken us to unprecedented levels of bonding. They’ve witnessed you in realms and engaged in activities that no others have.

In the very same month she received her 2014 diagnosis, Tessa shared with the Herald Sun that she attributed her strength to her husband, whom she wedded in 2011, due to his consistent and resilient support.

‘I receive plenty of assistance, and I’m fortunate to be married to an amazing man. I feel terrific, and I attribute much of my health to this sense of well-being. To me, happiness speaks volumes.’
