David Bailey’s Trans Son’s Surprise: From Transition to Fatherhood with Robinson’s Ex-Staffer’s Help

David Bailey’s son, Sascha, has shared that he is about to embark on fatherhood, which comes two years after a time when he was considering transitioning as a woman during the dissolution of his marriage.

A 29-year-old former model, now self-identifying as male, chose not to transition his gender following the establishment of a relationship with Lucy Brown, Tommy Robinson’s ex-assistant, who is 34 years old.

He informed TopMob that his renowned photographer father, at the age of 87, expressed joy about the pregnancy, yet in characteristic Bailey fashion, it was a quiet and subtle expression.

Two years ago, Sascha contemplated permanently shutting a certain door, and now he reflects by saying, “It’s truly remarkable that I was considering closing this path irreversibly back then.

While residing in Japan, he chose to identify as a transgender person, seeking relief from the distress of his turbulent marriage with attorney Mimi Nishikawa from Tokyo, and immersing himself within the “transmaxxing” community as an escape route.

Sascha became deeply involved in an uncommon social group where members, mostly men, think that transforming themselves into women could make their lives simpler.

He attended a brief, ten-minute consultation at a specialized gender clinic in Nagoya. During this visit, he was promptly given hormone therapy medication because he felt that his physical body did not match his true identity.

Sascha shared with The Times that past instances of sexual abuse, along with a failed suicide attempt, caused him to doubt his personal identity.

He mentioned that as a child, he frequently struggled to relate to men and male characters. However, he adored Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver in Alien) because she was powerful and did not resemble the one who caused him pain – her appearance was distinctly different.

Confident about it, Sascha shared with his wife Nishikawa at the time, whom he asserts was generally supportive, but under specific terms.

He shared: ‘She proposed a contract in which I’d relinquish a significant portion of my wealth during my transition period, allowing her freedom to be with whomever she desired. However, I was expected to remain present and conceal my transgender identity for an extended duration.’

Sascha shares that his decision to transition was sparked after discovering online communities about ‘transmaxxing’, a subculture where some men feel their lives might be simpler if they transform into women.

He remembered thinking: “Solving problems is what it’s about. When considering [transmaxxers], one must set aside emotions and personal matters, as their goal is to fit appropriately in the given circumstances.

Upon my return to England, I found myself eagerly prepared to embark on the journey of transitioning, with my hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medication already at hand. However, unexpected delays in obtaining my second month’s prescription from the NHS provided me with a valuable opportunity to reflect and reconsider.

He said: ‘I wasn’t going to start because the worst thing you can do is to stop and start.’

Later on, he mentions that he encountered Lucy, whom he confided about his intentions. Interestingly enough, her reaction varied a bit from what he expected.

He stated: ‘She echoed my line of thought, and it made me burst out laughing. From there, everything seemed to fall apart.’

In simpler terms, Sascha’s dad has been married to well-known beauties like Catherine Deneuve and Marie Helvin in the past, and he has an impressive collection of high-end fashion and celebrity photography.

Sascha’s mother Catherine — to whom David remains married today — is also a celebrated model.

Alongside his elder siblings Fenton and Paloma, Sascha spent his childhood enjoying a bohemian lifestyle that spanned both London and the countryside estate in Devon, known as Bailey. The family maintains a strong bond.

Reflecting on my childhood, I had an incredible upbringing – my parents were truly inspiring individuals, he reminisces, noting that our home was often graced by the presence of high-profile celebrities.

As a loyal admirer, I recollect a moment when Ronnie Wood advised me to playfully knot strangers’ shoelaces at some gathering. Later on, the esteemed shoe designer Manolo Blahnik gave me a well-deserved nudge, probably due to an incident where I accidentally tripped someone while pulling them along. Yet, I can’t help but smile at the memory.

Born with dyslexia, Sascha received private education at a specialized London school, completing it at the age of 16. Just a year later, his striking features inherited from his mother and dark hair caught the eye of the prestigious modeling agency, Storm, leading to his signing with them.

At that point, he had already established a relationship with an elder partner. He explains it as a time when he was feeling particularly defiant and eager to explore his independence.

At the age of 19, after spending several months modeling in Japan, he encountered attorney Mimi Nishikawa, who was 20 years older than him, through a common acquaintance. Despite their age difference, they felt an immediate connection.

As captivating and alluring as she was, there was something about her that simply drew me in. It’s like we were two lost souls searching for connection, and somehow, fortunately, our paths crossed.

Regarding the difference in our ages, he mentions: “It sparked some curiosity among others, but personally, I found it insignificant and it remains so.

Regardless, their bond developed swiftly, to the point where they got married in the Camden register office after only three months. The ceremony was attended by merely two individuals – Sascha’s closest friend and Mimi’s housemate – even though some friends and relatives had reservations.

He shares that numerous individuals expressed concerns about his plan, but when one is deeply engrossed in a particular state, one tends to focus narrowly, as if wearing blinders.

Although others may have been concerned, my father simply laughed and told me, “Go ahead and do as you please.” Since he himself got married around the same age, it wasn’t surprising for him to offer such advice.
