Hideo Kojima and Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Satellites II’ to Touch Down in New York

Summary

  • Prada Mode will arrive in New York for its 14th edition, presenting Satellites II by Hideo Kojima and Nicolas Winding Refn
  • The showcase features installations and performances within the hotel and across the city, exploring themes of connection, creativity and love

A new exhibit called Satellites II, created by video game designer Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn, will be held at New York’s Hotel Chelsea as part of Prada Mode. The exhibit will be open to the public June 5-7, running alongside the Tribeca Film Festival. A private preview will be held June 3-4.

The upcoming presentation is a follow-up to Satellites, a collaborative project by Kojima and Refn that was originally shown at Prada Aoyama in Tokyo last year. Satellites II expands on the first exhibit, offering a closer look at the artists’ friendship and how they inspire each other. Early images hint at another sci-fi-themed installation, featuring films displayed on vintage-style televisions that explore ideas about love, communication, and artistic expression.

Previously, during a private event, hotel rooms will be transformed into small television studios for unique performances. When the event opens to the public, those same rooms will display art installations.

The exhibition will be enhanced by a variety of cultural events like talks, concerts, and performances, as well as special dining experiences. Art will also be displayed throughout the hotel and city, building on the exhibition’s themes of how people connect and communicate.
