Netflix offers many excellent shows, but one particularly captivating series brilliantly mixes comedy, suspense, and compelling characters. Like other popular Netflix hits such as Stranger Things, it has the power to turn lesser-known actors into major stars and give established supporting actors a career boost.
Streaming services often attract viewers by hiring well-known actors. This strategy proved successful with shows like Maniac (2016), featuring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, and the 2026 psychological thriller His & Hers, starring Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal, and Pablo Schreiber of Halo. But the two-season anthology series Beef really raises the bar when it comes to star power.
Both Seasons of Netflix’s Beef Have Incredible Casts
The first season of Beef features Steven Yeun as Danny Cho and Ali Wong as Amy Lau, two people whose lives are dramatically altered after a road rage encounter. While Danny works as a contractor and Amy owns a small business, the show’s complex story quickly spirals as they both give up their normal routines to seek revenge.
Netflix’s first season of Beef, which premiered in April 2023, was a huge success, earning top honors at both the Emmys and Golden Globes. The show’s popularity is easy to understand – it offered a fresh and compelling mix of dark humor, suspenseful twists, and deeply emotional character stories.
But the first season of Beef had more than just a compelling story. The acting was phenomenal, with Steven Yeun and Ali Wong both receiving awards for their leading performances, and fantastic support from Ashley Park, Joseph Lee, Maria Bello, and Kelvin Han Yee. Many thought it would be hard to top that, but the show surprised everyone with a clever new development for season 2.
Beef’s Anthology Approach Means The Netflix Show’s Cast Is Only Getting Better
Because Beef season 2 will tell a completely new story with different characters, a fresh cast has been chosen. With the talented actors they’ve signed, the show has the potential to become Netflix’s next hit like The White Lotus. Netflix clearly invested in big names for this season.
Oscar Isaac stars as Josh, the manager of a country club, and Carey Mulligan plays his wife, Lindsay. Newcomer Charles Mellon shines as Austin, a personal trainer, and Cailee Spaeny, known for her role in Civil War, plays his fiancée, Ashley.
Season 2 of Beef is set to be even more star-studded than the first, with William Fichtner, Youn Yuh-jung, and rapper BM joining the cast. It’s already one of the most talked-about shows expected in 2026. If it’s as good as the first season, Beef has the potential to become Netflix’s leading anthology series.
