Cynthia Erivo Stuns in Pinstripe Suit and Dazzling Nails at NAACP Image Awards 2025!

At the NAACP Image Awards held in Pasadena, California on a Saturday, Cynthia Erivo captivated everyone with her presence on the red carpet.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but shout from the rooftops about the incredible news! The extraordinary 38-year-old actress who played the Wicked enchantress is up for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture! This recognition is well deserved for her remarkable co-lead role she shared with the brilliant Ariana Grande in that blockbuster movie we both adore.

She chose a contemporary outfit, featuring a sleek black pinstriped suit with a fitted waistline and a black tie.

She enhanced her appearance with her brand new, extremely long green nail design, a nod to her Elphaba persona.

Her nails featured an intricate mix of sparkling gemstones, metallic accents and silver crescents. 

She adorned herself with fashionable gold hoop earrings, her distinctive nose stud, and a variety of rings – one of which was an emerald, rectangular-shaped gemstone, yet another reference to the upcoming 2024 movie.

Erivo has previously been nominated for the NAACP awards four separate times.

In 2020, the British actress received her initial nominations – one for Outstanding Actress in a Movie and another for Outstanding Emerging Performance in a Movie – both for her portrayal in Harriet.

In 2022 she earned her third nod for Outstanding New Artist for her album, Ch. 1 Vs. 1. 

In the same year, she was also nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Television Film Category (Television Movie, Limited Series, or Dramatic Special) due to her performance in Genius.

If she wins tonight, the award would mark her first victory at the NAACP. 

And as of February 20, Wicked has raked in over $727M worldwide. 

Each year, the NAACP Image Awards celebrate exceptional accomplishments and performances by individuals of African descent across various fields such as movies, TV shows, music, and writing.

The event encompasses various fields such as films, TV shows, music, books, and podcasts.

Additionally, there are honors bestowed upon people who’ve notably advanced the cause of civil rights and social justice.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris was honored with the prestigious Chairman’s Award at the event.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I am thrilled to share that I had the privilege of being inducted into the prestigious NAACP Awards Hall of Fame – an incredible moment for me and my family. My son Damon Wayans Jr., along with his brother Marlon Wayans, joined me to graciously accept this honor. It was a heartwarming experience that I will cherish forever.

In the awards ceremony, Zoe Saldana was up for the Best Actress in a Drama Series category for her performance in Lioness. However, Queen Latifah won this honor, taking home the award for The Equalizer.

Quinta Brunson won for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on Abbott Elementary. 

On the eventful night, other notable winners emerged. Martin Lawrence was honored with the Best Actor in a Movie accolade for his performance in Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Denzel Washington took home the Best Supporting Actor in a Movie award for his role in Gladiator II. Lastly, Ebony Obsidian claimed the title of Best Supporting Actress for her work in The Six Triple Eight.

As a dedicated follower, I had the pleasure of attending this year’s event, which was expertly orchestrated by the talented actor and humorist, Deon Cole. The broadcast graced our screens on both BET and CBS. This year’s show was themed ‘Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence,’ a testament to the rich narratives, traditions, and achievements that define us.
