I’ve been missing Matlock since it went on break after the December finale – that ending for Billy’s storyline with Leah Lewis was really good! I’m so excited it’s coming back in 2026, and even more thrilled to hear Edwin Hodge, who’s married to Skye P. Marshall, will be guest starring alongside her. Everything I’ve heard about them both, including Skye’s comments about Edwin and that adorable birthday celebration on set, has me really looking forward to seeing him back on CBS after FBI: Most Wanted ended.
Edwin Hodge Celebrated His Birthday On Matlock
Edwin Hodge is joining Season 2 of Matlock as a guest star, making him the second spouse of a cast member to appear on the show. Melanie Lynskey previously made a surprise appearance as a character in a separate storyline from her husband, Jason Ritter. According to Deadline, Hodge will play Langston, a charming and intelligent man with PhDs in both neuroscience and philosophy.
While working on the popular CBS show, he celebrated his 41st birthday with a cheerful song led by Skye P. Marshall and a delicious plate of doughnuts. Here’s a glimpse:

Hodge and Marshall got married in 2024 and both appeared in the medical drama Good Sam before landing roles in more popular shows on CBS. The cancellation of FBI: Most Wanted in 2025 was unexpected, but Matlock was quickly renewed for a third season after Hodge was cast.
Skye P. Marshall Hyping Her Husband Up
While there aren’t enough details about Langston to get too excited about what he’ll bring to Matlock, Skye P. Marshall wasted no time in hyping up her husband’s arrival. When he initially posted the guest star news on Instagram, he wrote in his caption: “I will be joining my lovely talented beautiful wife on screen,” and shouted out Kathy Bates, Jason Ritter, and Leah Lewis as well. Marshall took to his comment section with a pretty great message:
Olympia will eat you alive 😎 Welcome to Matlock love!!!!!
Skye P. Marshall wasn’t alone in offering congratulations. Other actors from Matlock and a former co-star from FBI: Most Wanted also joined the online celebration. Here’s a glimpse at the supportive comments:
- Jason Ritter: “Cannot wait!!!!”
- Leah Lewis: “WELCOMIN WITH OPEN ARMS!!!!!! Come ON IN!!!!!!!! Our casa been tu casa🎉🎉🎉🎉
- Shantel VanSanten: “Yessssss 🙌❤️🙌”
Understandably, Skye P. Marshall does seem to be the most excited of them all, and she shared a post of her own on her Instagram account to celebrate that she’d be able to work with her husband again for the first time since Good Sam. She wrote:
Things got a little silly when we let spouses visit the office! It led to a very long (and funny!) meeting with HR. Send good vibes to our directors! And a big welcome to everyone at MATLOCK – let’s have some fun!
As of today, CBS hasn’t announced when the episode featuring Edwin Hodge on Matlock will air. It’s also unclear if his character will share any scenes with Olympia. Similar to Melanie Lynskey, who didn’t join the show for direct interaction with Jason Ritter, Hodge might not have scenes specifically with Marshall.
I’m happy Hodge is returning to CBS after finishing his work on FBI: Most Wanted and Matlock. The new season of Matlock, starring Kathy Bates, premieres on CBS Thursday, February 26th at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. You can also watch previous episodes anytime with a Paramount+ subscription.
