Khazan, a game known for its striking art style and challenging, Dark Souls-inspired combat, was well-received last year. However, publisher Nexon has reportedly shut down the development team behind it, suggesting they weren’t satisfied with the game’s performance.
I was really sad to hear that the whole team at Neople who made that awesome action RPG has moved on to other things. They’re still with Nexon, which is good, but they’re not working together on the game anymore. It’s a big change, and I’m definitely going to miss what they brought to it.
This comes from Korean outlet Yonhap News, reporting on a statement from the publisher.
It’s unclear what will happen to Khazan or any plans for a follow-up.
This news comes after reports that the game didn’t sell as well as hoped. However, Nexon still considers it a win because it successfully introduced the Dungeon & Fighter series to players in Western countries.
The company has repeatedly stated that Khazan was a key initial move in expanding the audience for Dungeon & Fighter.
Despite this, it looks like the team that was developing the game has moved on to other projects. We’re hoping to learn more about the reasons behind this change, but thankfully, it doesn’t seem anyone has lost their job.
