Colin Farrell’s extraordinary Ireland-set masterpiece premieres on TV tonight
This year, Colin Farrell received significant praise for “The Penguin,” a film that many believe is the finest of his career so far. Don’t miss your chance to watch it tonight!
2022’s standout film, titled “The Banshees of Inisherin“, brought together actor Colin Farrell with his former co-star Brendan Gleeson and the talented Martin McDonagh, who penned and directed the movie, for a humorous yet somber tale unfolding on a fictitious island near the Irish coast.
The narrative unfolds as Padraic (Farrell) navigates the sudden dissolution of his long-standing friendship with Colm (Gleeson). This transformation resonates throughout their circle, affecting not only Siobhán (Kerry Condon), Padraic’s sister, but also the complex character of Dominic (Barry Keoghan).
If you didn’t catch it in theaters or feel like watching it again, “The Banshees of Inisherin” starts airing tonight at 9:15 PM on Channel 4.
There’s no need to stress out if you can’t catch tonight’s airing or have other weekend plans, as the show The Banshees of Inisherin will be made available for free viewing on Channel 4’s streaming platform not long after its initial release.
There’s also a repeat broadcast on Tuesday, February 25 at 9pm on digital channel 4seven.
At the 2023 Oscars, The Banshees of Inisherin received nine nominations, but on the night itself, it failed to win any awards as Everything Everywhere All At Once swept the ceremony.
However, it did win four BAFTA awards, including Outstanding British Film.
Prior to the film’s debut in 2022, Farrell and Gleeson discussed with Digital Spy the possibility of a third movie featuring the trio, McDonagh included.
According to Gleeson, whether he’ll rejoin us or not depends on his satisfaction. He won’t return with us until he’s content, and as he put it himself, multiple times, “I don’t want things to be worse than ‘In Bruges'” – implying that he wouldn’t return for a situation less favorable than what was portrayed in the movie “In Bruges.
Seven years past, I recall diving into the initial edition of Banshees, and back then, I was raring to tackle this updated rendition. Looking back, I believe we both would’ve been equally eager to take on that original game.
“He thought it was shite. He just kept the first five minutes of that version.”
Tonight at 9:15 PM, you can catch “The Banshees of Inisherin” on Channel 4. Shortly after it airs, it will also be accessible on Channel 4’s streaming platform.
