Guerdy Abraira Calls Teddi Mellencamp a ‘Fighter’ After Cancer Battle Revelation
Guerdy Abraira, a cast member on The Real Housewives of Miami, shares some understanding about the experiences Teddi Mellencamp is facing after undergoing brain tumor surgery.
43-year-old Teddi stunned her followers recently as she disclosed that medical professionals discovered numerous brain tumors in her. She shared that she will undergo surgery to eliminate two of these tumors, with further radiation treatment scheduled for removal of the smaller ones at a later time.
47-year-old Guerdy has openly shared her health struggles with the public and received a breast cancer diagnosis in the year 2023.
2024 saw her completing a full year in remission, following her recovery from six surgical procedures and chemotherapy therapy. This experience prompted her to make the decision to shave off her hair.
Upon learning about the heartbreaking diagnosis of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Guerdy expressed to DailyMail.com that her heart sank deeply.
She immediately reached out to Teddi over Instagram, who replied with a ‘heart emoji.’
‘Guerdy stated to DailyMail.com during an interview at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival on February 18, it was incredibly swift and intense. The speed and unexpectedness of the situation made his heart sink because he’s aware that matters related to tumors and cancer are rarely pleasant journeys.’
However, despite her numerous health challenges and setbacks, she remains resilient and it brings me joy to know that she is supported by her loved ones.
‘What counts is that support system and to see that light at the end of the tunnel.’
In 2022, Teddi was identified as having stage 2 melanoma, and since then, a total of 17 melanomas have been surgically excised from her body in recent years.
On the day of her emergency brain surgery, Teddi posted a video on her Instagram story giving a peek into her hospital room. In it, she revealed that Kyle Richards, Morgan Wade, and her ex, Edwin Arroyave, were among those who stood by her during this difficult time.
In the middle of parting ways after 13 years of marriage, Edwin (age 47) and Teddi were taking a break from their divorce proceedings due to her ongoing health issues, as reported by DailyMail.com this week.
Apart from me, my dear stepdaughter Bella, who’s 15, was there too, along with Slate, aged 12, Cruz, 10, and the youngest, Dove, who just turned 4. We were all present.
Edwin shared a post with fans after her operation, stating that it went smoothly, yet expressed he had rarely witnessed her in such intense discomfort.
He told his followers that she is now receiving much-needed rest, and he knows she is deeply appreciative of all the affection shown to her.
Guerdy commended the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum for openly discussing her personal health journey, recognizing that it’s not an easy step for everyone to take.
She pointed out that when you decide to share your story openly, it requires great strength and resilience to carry on with the decision, asserting your determination to move ahead.
As someone committed to transparency, I believe it’s inconsistent for me to solely focus on the positives and disappear when faced with adversity. Instead, I aim to embrace both the good and the challenging moments as part of my journey.
‘So, for me, when I signed up for the good, it was also for the bad and the indifference.
In that situation, I found a method to handle it, which encourages deep self-reflection, making you closely examine your own flaws and the matters needing attention.
She further commented that being involved in the Housewives series is a therapeutic process for her, despite the frequent disagreements. Ultimately, she considers it a means of personal development and growth, for which she feels profound gratitude.
Guerdy went on to say, ‘At the moment, I view myself as a survivor who not only endures but also flourishes. Post-cancer, my perspective on life has shifted significantly.’
Keep in mind that I underwent an early, medically-induced menopause, which is unusual because I was not yet at the typical age for menopause. This means my body is experiencing significant hormonal shifts due to these changes.
She acknowledged that her hormonal fluctuations are impacting her relationship with her husband, Russell, and viewers will need to be patient to observe how this dynamic unfolds in the upcoming season of RHOM.
Filming for season seven commenced in September 2024, however, the exact release date is still to be confirmed by Bravo.
It was confirmed by the network that Stephanie Shojaee, who recently appeared at Bravo Fan Fest in Miami in November, will be joining the show as a new cast member.
She will be teaming up once more with the recurring actors Guerdy, Larsa Pippen, Lisa Hochstein, Alexia Nepola, and Julia Lemigova.

She expressed that it’s truly regrettable, because fundamentally, we’re all human beings. And, as far as I’m concerned, nobody desires harm for others; at least, that’s my perspective.
‘And so for me I did reach out to her like, “Hey, are you okay? Is everything okay?”‘
