As a die-hard admirer, I’m all fired up about Will Smith hinting at a blockbuster follow-up to one of his most successful movies! And get this – he’s got Zendaya in mind as part of the stellar cast. Can you imagine the magic they would create together? This is beyond exciting!

56-year-old Academy Award winner disclosed movie updates in a chat on Wednesday’s Twitch livestream with Canadian video game player, xQc (whose real name is Félix Lengyel).

As a devoted follower, I’ve recently shared my thoughts on two exciting topics that caught my attention. Firstly, reflecting upon the Grammy Awards held earlier this month, I found myself without my partner Jada Pinkett Smith by my side during the event. Secondly, delving into the world of cinema, I couldn’t help but express my anticipation for Michael B. Jordan, who is set to star in the sequel to my 2008 film, “I Am Legend.

Will revealed that an idea was in the works for a sequel to his hit 2008 superhero film Hancock.

He laughed, saying “They seem to be spilling all my secrets,” as the hosts brought up the comment about a potential Hancock sequel.

He excitedly revealed, “I’ve got an outstanding concept for Hancock 2! Although we haven’t discussed it fully yet, allow me to share a small tidbit: Zendaya is being considered for a part in the sequel.

Smith didn’t venture any other details about the film.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures, where Hancock’s original film was produced, has remained silent regarding Will’s intentions for a follow-up movie.

The original film was a box office hit in 2008 despite being savaged by critics.

The movie raked in a staggering $629.4 million at the box office, significantly more than its production cost of $150 million, as reported by Box Office Mojo. This made it the fourth highest-grossing film of the year and one of Will’s most financially successful films.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but express my profound connection to the character he breathed life into – an almost eternal being, endowed with powers reminiscent of Superman, yet haunted by destiny’s cruel twist. This once-invincible hero, now battling his own demons, has succumbed to the destructive clutches of alcoholism.

Following his act of rescuing a Public Relations specialist (Jason Bateman), Hancock develops a connection with both him and his spouse (Charlize Theron).

In simpler terms, Bateman aims to assist Hancock in reforming himself into the respected superhero he used to dream of being, all while Hancock forms an unexpected bond with Theron’s character.

Following the movie’s triumph, there was swift discussion about a possible follow-up, but unfortunately, it didn’t materialize. Instead, cinemas are now filled with Marvel and DC superhero films.

Nevertheless, with both studios’ superhero stories frequently falling short among fans and reviewers, there could potentially be an opportunity for a fresh perspective on this genre.

Back in 2020, Charlize openly confessed to ComicBook.com that discussions about a sequel had been on hold for quite some time. However, she made it clear that she would eagerly jump at the opportunity to reprise her role as Hancock if a sequel were ever planned.

Although Will Smith didn’t explicitly suggest how Zendaya could be part of a Hancock sequel, given that his character lived for thousands of years and had past romantic relationships with other super-powered individuals, it’s plausible she could appear as a long-lost child, possessing her own powers.

Recently, she was featured in the critically-acclaimed romantic sports film titled Challengers, alongside Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist.

She’s also set to finally return to HBO’s Euphoria with a much-anticipated third season in 2026. 

Previously, along the flow, Will expressed admiration for Michael B. Jordan upon being chosen for a follow-up to his successful horror movie “I Am Legend”.
