Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo’s new thriller confirms release date in eerie first trailer

The very first teaser for “Good American Family,” starring Ellen Pompeo, has been unveiled, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the authentic tale that serves as the basis for this gripping TV show.

In addition to Mark Duplass and Imogen Faith Reid, this eight-episode series portrays the story of a fictional adoption process experienced by the Midwestern couple Kristine and Michael Barnett, who adopted Natalia Grace.

At first, the duo assume Natalia is a young girl with dwarfism. However, their doubts start to creep in over time, with Kristine growing suspicious that Natalia might actually be an adult pretending to be a child.

Beginning its stream on Hulu on March 19, the series by creator and producer Katie Robbins will portray the unsettling elements of a real-life crime case.

The trailer showcases the character played by Grey’s Anatomy actress Pompeo, named Kristine, growing increasingly suspicious of Natalia. Meanwhile, her husband Michael, acted by Duplass, seems to downplay Kristine’s worries.

In the preview, there are hints of dramatic scenes as Natalia is put through examinations to determine her true age. During this process, Kristine notes that Natalia has fully developed adult teeth, while the test results suggest indications of puberty that don’t align with a child’s developmental stage.

As the trailer continues, it becomes increasingly chaotic, featuring moments where child protective services arrive at the Barnett household, and Kristine is urged to seek legal advice.

Simultaneously, Michael becomes alarmed as he begins to think his wife may have been correct in her concerns, and it seems Natalia is potentially putting their other children at risk.

In addition to Pompeo, who is also an executive producer, Duplass and Reid, the limited series features Dulé Hill from “This Is Us” as detective Brandon Drysdale, Sarayu Blue from “XO, Kitty” as Valika, a parent of one of Kristine’s daycare children, and Christina Hendricks, known for her role in “Mad Men,” as Cynthia Mans.

The series “Good American Family” will become available for streaming on Hulu in the U.S. starting from March 19th. At this point, a release date in the UK has not been disclosed.
