Anya Taylor-Joy’s forgotten Spanish horror movie is on TV tonight

This evening, the Spanish horror movie “Marrowbone” featuring Anya Taylor-Joy, also known as “The Secret of Marrowbone,” is scheduled to air on UK TV.)

In 2017, I stumbled upon an intriguing movie that tells my personal story of four siblings moving to our mom’s Maine estate, only to discover a chilling force within our family home.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, it will be broadcast on Channel 4 at 1 am, which is essentially tomorrow night. However, it’s uncertain if it will be available for replay later. Alternatively, you can purchase or rent the digital version of the film through Amazon Prime Video.

The film ‘Marrowbone’ is a creation of writer-director Sergio G Sánchez, featuring in its cast George MacKay known for his role in ‘Femme’, Charlie Heaton from ‘Stranger Things’, and Mia Goth who shines in ‘MaXXXine’.

Upon its debut, the film garnered quite a variety of opinions from critics, earning a 49% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it boasts a higher approval rating among fans at 70%.

According to general agreement, while the film boasts a convincing backdrop and a powerful ensemble, it struggles to compensate for its underdeveloped characters and lacks authentic frightening moments.

In their critique, Little White Lies remarked: “Although everything mostly falls into place towards the end, it’s peculiar how a movie striving for uniqueness can feel so foreseeable.

The Hollywood Reporter also noted: “This film is spooky enough to delight many horror enthusiasts, but it could also appeal to audiences in upscale cinemas. Strip away all the supernatural elements, and you’re left with a compelling drama that’s definitely worth watching.

This year has been quite hectic for Taylor-Joy. She played the lead role in “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” and made an appearance as a guest star in “Dune: Part Two”.

Currently, she is appearing in the latest sci-fi film on Apple TV+ titled “The Gorge” where she stars alongside Miles Teller. The plot revolves around two exceptional snipers who have been assigned to monitor an enigmatic ravine.

The Secret of Marrowbone will air on Channel 4 at 1am this evening.
