Kez, Ringmaster finally receive Facets in Dota 2 patch 7.38

Dota 2’s newest heroes have been waiting ages for their real facets.

For about a year, the new Dota 2 characters, Kez and Ringmaster, have been without distinct personalities or backstories. However, in today’s Wandering Waters 7.38 update, they’ve been given unique characteristics, bringing them in line with other heroes.

After six months in Dota, the support hero Ringmaster is finally making his Captain’s Mode debut at DreamLeague this week, following a lengthy wait for his updated abilities. Since his release last August, he has already received significant nerfs, but with new facets to select from, he’s now ready to shine on the battlefield.

Hero of the Flightless gone as Kez players offered two playstyles through Facets

In their Dota 2 games, Kez players will be presented with two options, named Flutter, which offers immediate perks upon the switch between using a katana and a sai.

With a katana in hand, Kez deals 12% increased damage on his initial attack or ability. On the other hand, wielding sai provides him with a temporary boost in movement speed. It’s common to see players opt for Flutter and aim for Aghanim’s Scepter, as these choices can reduce Switch Discipline’s cooldown after using an ability.

In another phrase, Shadowhawk adopts a stealthy, hit-and-flee assassination approach. Activating the Shodo Sai mark while being invisible boosts critical damage, and it also reduces the cooldown for both Shodo Sai and Kazurai Katana when activating a mark.

When using Kez, players should prioritize striking and activating the mark to cause extra burst damage, as switching between using sai and katana for other skills is less crucial.

New toys for Ringmaster after six months without a Facet

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that the Ringmaster’s core skills stay the same regardless of the facet selected, but the items he gets from the Dark Carnival Barker will vary based on my chosen facet.

In a nutshell, the traditional Funhouse Mirror, Strongman Tonic, and Whoopee Cushion belong to the Carny Classics collection. The latest Sideshow Secrets collection introduces three novel trinkets: Crystal Ball, Unicycle, and Weighted Pie.

Much like the Scan feature, the Crystal Ball highlights an area, signaling to Ringmaster and his comrades whether any foes are present within the boundary. The Unicycle is expected to be the preferred souvenir; with it, Ringmaster mounts up and charges into combat at a rapid pace. From this vantage point, he can hurl a Weighted Pie, sending enemies flying backwards and momentarily impairing their vision.

With the addition of Ringmaster in Captain’s Mode, it means that professional players can now showcase their skills with this hero on a grand scale for the first time.
