GTA 6 Could Reportedly Feature Fortnite and Roblox-Style User-Generated Content

According to reports, Rockstar Games is said to be engaging in talks with prominent creators of “Fortnite” and “Roblox,” possibly indicating that they are contemplating the development of user-generated content and personalized experiences for “Grand Theft Auto VI.” It’s also been suggested that these discussions have involved creators who work on “GTA” content as well.

According to unnamed sources, Digiday suggests that Rockstar might allow creators to modify the Vice City game environment and assets, incorporating their own intellectual property, potentially featuring a brand sponsor. If verified, this would contrast significantly with the series’ historical approach of providing sharp satire on consumerism.

To this point, the discussions have been largely vague, and it’s uncertain precisely what advantages creators would gain by incorporating their Intellectual Property (IP) and followers into GTA 6. The only apparent benefit seems to be increased visibility from being associated with one of the world’s leading gaming franchises.

In various alternate digital worlds, makers are frequently known as creators of user-generated content (UGC). They have the opportunity to earn income by receiving a portion of sales from virtual items or by participating in revenue sharing schemes.

Once upon a time, the thought of such a concept appearing in a Grand Theft Auto game would have seemed unimaginable. However, given that Grand Theft Auto Online appears to be where Rockstar Games are focusing their efforts these days, and with single-player story content taking a back seat, it seems that nothing is off the table anymore.

Grand Theft Auto VI is currently slated for a fall 2025 release.
