Nintendo announce end of Gold Points scheme
Gold Points are being ended ahead of the Switch 2.
Nintendo has shared that as of March 28th, you’ll no longer accrue Gold Points through their current rewards program. This change comes as Nintendo prepares to launch the Switch 2 later in the year.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m left in the dark about whether Nintendo will roll out a new loyalty program down the line. Today, unfortunately, no hints were dropped about future plans from the gaming giant. Currently, I can accumulate Gold Points by buying games from their eShop and website, or by registering games I’ve purchased from other retailers. These points can be redeemed later for discounts on Nintendo platforms. Here’s hoping they share more details soon!
It’s good news! Any Nintendo Points you’ve accumulated thus far, as well as those earned prior to the upcoming deadline next month, will remain valid. Keep in mind that your Gold Points are only valid for a year, so remember to use any that you’ve been saving before they expire.
Nintendo discontinues Gold Points moving forward
Amongst Nintendo enthusiasts, the Nintendo Gold Points program was widely appreciated. Essentially, it offered a 5% return when buying products directly from Nintendo, which could then be spent on items available at the eShop or Nintendo’s official website.
In this collection, there were gaming consoles, additional equipment, and various video games. To get hold of premium products, one needed to accumulate a substantial amount of savings. However, enthusiasts would typically use these resources for acquiring additional content such as downloadable game packs (DLCs) or custom costumes in Super Smash Brothers.
For now, until we hear otherwise, there won’t be a loyalty program introduced as we transition into the new Nintendo Switch 2 era for enthusiasts.
Game vouchers also get an adjustment
The popular gaming ticket system, appreciated by enthusiasts, is undergoing a change prior to the launch of Switch 2. Previously, members of Nintendo Switch Online could buy two games at a reduced price using game vouchers. However, this perk will not extend to the Switch 2.
As a perk for being a member of Nintendo Switch Online, you can buy a pack of two Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers. Each voucher allows you to get a specific digital software title for the Nintendo Switch console at a discounted price. However, please note that these vouchers cannot be used to obtain games designed exclusively for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 system.”
This version maintains the same meaning as your original text but is written in a more natural and easy-to-read style.
Nintendo’s updated terms regarding vouchers.
Due to the halt of Gold Points and the omission of Switch 2 games from the rewards program, Nintendo enthusiasts are now deprived of two effective methods for reducing costs on fresh releases.
