Cheryl Fergison’s Shocking BBC Comeback After 13 Years: You Won’t Believe What Happened!
13 years after her departure, Cheryl Fergison, once known for her role on EastEnders, has revealed she’s returning to the BBC.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reminisce about my beloved TV icon who played Shirley Carter’s George Michael-devoted best friend. Tragically, this cherished character met her untimely end at the hands of Ben Mitchell back in 2012.
After departing from her role at the BBC soap opera, Cheryl has dived into various new ventures, most recently performing live at a Chinese takeaway during its grand opening, where she entertained only about 30 guests earlier in this month.
Yet, Cheryl hinted at returning to the channel along with a ‘confidential endeavor’, as she shared her bustling work routine with her followers.
On Monday, Cheryl shared in a TikTok clip that she has been preparing for her trip to London the following week. She mentioned a clandestine undertaking she will be involved in.
After that, I’ll be recording for the BBC. Later on, I’ll head over to The Groove Chorus, collaborating with the charming Groove Chorus at The Clapham Ground on the 21st and 22nd.

She mentioned that she plans to perform a short, 30-second act at the venue. Afterward, she encouraged her fans to purchase their tickets.
Following a five-year stint on EastEnders, Cheryl experienced a series of ups and downs in her acting career when she was let go from the soap opera in 2012.
Reflecting on my past, I’ve come to acknowledge that I neglected saving any portion of my substantial earnings. In fact, life circumstances left me in a position where I had to rely on food banks just to make ends meet.
Although no longer a frequent presence on television, the celebrity expressed joy to TopMob, stating that she is ‘completely content’ prior to her performance for a modest audience at the Dragon Lounge eatery in Cleveleys, Lancashire this past month.
As a passionate admirer, allow me to share her words: “Here I stand, on the precipice of turning sixty in August. Contrary to many, I’ve never found solace in the pursuit of wealth or worldly possessions. I am not like those who strive for fame on social media platforms, motivated by monetary gains.
In my free time, I take on numerous community initiatives, such as community theater where I strive to nurture others’ creativity.
I acknowledge that on numerous occasions, I’ve declined opportunities that may have positively impacted my professional growth. In hindsight, perhaps I might have made different choices if given a second chance.
As much as I adore EastEnders, I didn’t aspire to be its leading star. For me, it was merely another role, an opportunity to showcase my acting skills, which is what I consider myself – a dedicated performer.

On June 26, 2007, Cheryl debuted for the first time, portraying the role of Heather, alongside character Shirley Carter, played by Linda Henry, in a supporting capacity.
Her character was recognized by her fondness for headbands, affection for cheese, and appreciation for George Michael, eventually earning her the title of ‘Funniest Performance’ winner at the 2008 Inside Soap Awards.
In March 2012, she had her last on-screen role as a deceased character, following her demise at the hands of Ben Mitchell, portrayed by Joshua Pascoe.
Instead of the soap, the actress voiced her sadness yet acknowledged a sense of gratitude towards the role that she initially believed would only span across four to five episodes.
She shared that she was informed about her departure when she was summoned to the executive’s office. Upon telling her the news, he was visibly emotional and said, “Superiors higher up have instructed me to let you go. They aim to nurture different characters instead.
Initially, I was meant to stay for just four or five episodes, but unexpectedly, I ended up with a five-year commitment instead. I’m truly grateful for this extended opportunity.
In the event of something concluding, one must face it head-on. Some individuals find themselves swayed by the excitement that envelopes them. (Alternatively, ‘When something finishes, you simply have to handle it. Some think they’re caught up in the frenzy around them.’)

She clarified the common misunderstanding that being frequently seen on television equates to financial wealth: ‘Indeed, there is a degree of truth to this assumption. However, the reality can be more complex as people often believe that TV personalities are extremely wealthy.’
However, I already spent the funds. I hadn’t given much thought to the expenses associated with shopping, vacations, or similar expenditures, so I didn’t save anything. In hindsight, perhaps it would have been a good idea to do so.
As someone who’s walked the path of a young actor in EastEnders, if I were to guide an aspiring talent today, I’d advise them to tread with caution. The spotlight might not shine forever.
Instead, Cheryl prioritizes experiences over material possessions or wealth, explaining, “Nonetheless, I maintain the view that experiences hold more value than possessions. After all, money can be transient, so why fret over it?
Our family doesn’t exchange gifts among ourselves, not even during Christmas. Instead, we prefer to invest our resources on shared experiences.
Life isn’t just about accumulating possessions; it’s more about cherished moments shared with loved ones – your family and friends.
Glancing towards the future, Cheryl suggested that she has a significant project in store, hinting cryptically, “I’m sworn to secrecy. I mustn’t spill the beans, but I have a feeling an announcement about it is imminent.
Recently, the star wrapped up her role as the Fairy Godmother in the Cinderella play at Peterborough, a performance that was shared with her son Alex Saddiqi, aged 25, who portrayed the character of Buttons on stage.

Currently, she’s experimenting with a two-hour show titled “An Evening with Cheryl Fergison.” This event is rich with accounts from her acting career and sprinkled with tales of the frequent rejections all actors encounter.
Apart from that role, she’s also been cast in the sitcom “Mandy,” which features Diane Morgan and is an ongoing absurdist comedy that debuted in 2019.
Cheryl isn’t afraid to admit she has used food banks in the past when money has been scarce.
She stated: “I believe it’s crucial for individuals to discuss their necessity, as many professionals, such as nurses, do. People often overlook this fact, but the truth is, anyone could find themselves in a position where they need to resort to using them, given that we are all only a few paychecks away from facing similar situations.
‘I suppose I should have invested some of the money I earned, maybe bought a house, but I didn’t.
I hailed from a council estate in London during a bygone era. Our meals were simple, often consisting of sandwiches made with jam, sugar, or tomato ketchup. This was the way folks managed to get by.
‘But I have been working for over 40 years and I will keep on working.’
