Everwild Gets an Update From Phil Spencer as Rare is Given the Development Time it Needs
Approximately four years have passed since there’s been any news about Everwild, a game in development by the team behind Sea of Thieves at Rare. Previously, it was rumored that the game was being reworked, but since then, we’ve essentially been left in the dark. However, that changes now.
Microsoft’s gaming chief, Phil Spencer, has provided an update regarding the vibrant, animal-themed adventure game set in a lush, enchanting environment. He clarified that the game’s delay is merely to ensure sufficient time for the developers at Rare to complete their work effectively.
It’s pleasant to observe the advancements the Everwild team has made, and it’s been quite some time since we last heard from them,” Spencer acknowledged during his conversation with Xbox Era (as reported by VGC). “We’ve allowed them the necessary space to focus on their work, which is beneficial, and we still maintain our diverse portfolio as a result.
Spencer continued, “It’s as if a long-held dream Matt (Booty, Xbox Game Studios head) and I have nurtured has finally become a reality, and it feels great. Now, we can provide those teams with the time they need.
It’s not surprising that Spencer is willing to let Rare take its time with the development of Everwild, given that they have transformed Sea of Thieves into a thriving live-service game and boast a history dating back to iconic titles like Conker, Banjo-Kazooie, Killer Instinct, and others. Here’s to hoping that Everwild lives up to the anticipation.
