Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Storm Out of SNL 50th Anniversary Concert

On Friday evening, during an incident that’s been widely shared online, Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, exited the SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert with much amusement.

68-year-old actor Tom Hanks, known for his role in Forrest Gump, recently graced the screens on a popular sketch comedy show towards the end of last year. Notably, he has hosted Saturday Night Live an impressive 10 times, earning him membership in the exclusive Five-Timers Club.

On February 14th, the event was held at the renowned Radio City Music Hall, where celebrities like Pete Davidson, Adam Sandler, Scarlett Johansson, Pedro Pascal, and Anya Taylor-Joy graced the occasion with their presence.

During the course of the event, Jimmy Fallon announced at some point that no awards would be distributed throughout the evening. This news wasn’t particularly welcomed by Hanks and Wilson.

The talk show host clarified, ‘It seems there may have been some misunderstanding; this evening is merely a performance – no awards will be presented here tonight, I simply want to ensure everyone is aware of that.’

Just beyond Fallon, the camera shifted focus to capture the amusing spectacle of an actor and his spouse rising from their seats in the theater, ready to exit.

Rita was also seen jokingly shaking her finger towards Jimmy as she held hands with Hanks.

Fallon queried, ‘Tom or Rita?’ as he expressed bewilderment towards the camera. ‘Unfortunately, we misplaced Tom Hanks and Rita,’ he apologized, ‘not their fault.’

Tom, with his ease on the SNL stage after many years, found it effortless to deliver a short humorous scene.

In 1985, during its 11th season, he debuted as the host of the sketch comedy series at the age of 29.

In the Peacock’s SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night documentary series, the acclaimed actor looked back on his initial hosting stint on SNL, describing it as the most thrilling event in his career according to NBC.

He too became the initial host who managed to enter the writer’s room, and remarked, “In truth, seeing them simply work diligently and push ahead served as a valuable life lesson for me.

‘Don’t read the bad reviews because someone out there is just going to hate your guts.’ 

In addition, the actor from Sleepless in Seattle expressed that the common phrase “it was a dream come true” falls short of expressing the reality. Instead, it was more like a cherished fantasy brought to life.

1990 marked the year when Tom became an official member of the Five-Timers Club, subsequently making appearances in various other episodes.

Towards the end of last year, specifically in December, he made an appearance in a Christmas-themed segment hosted by Martin Short.

On Friday, not only did Hanks and Wilson join the anniversary concert, but notable artists like Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Cher delivered outstanding performances.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I couldn’t help but join Anya Taylor-Joy and Pedro Pascal in their lively rendition and dance moves to an infectiously catchy melody. It was simply irresistible!

Scarlett Johansson appeared equally astonished by Cyrus, seated beside her husband Colin Jost, and subtly swayed in her spot.

After finishing her performance, Hannah Montana gracefully curtsied and exclaimed with enthusiasm: “I adore you, Lorne Michaels!

Cyrus performed alongside Brittany Howard, collaborating on a rendition of Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga kicked off her performance with her hit, Shallow, with Andy Samberg.

Following Gaga’s start on the piano, Samberg stumbled during the song’s opening, but before he could sing, the fourteen-time Grammy winner intervened and halted his performance.

‘Andy, Andy, I got to stop you,’ she told him. ‘It’s very bad.’

From the get-go, I sensed it wasn’t quite right,” I admitted. “Perhaps we might want to pass on this for now? It seems there might be something more suited to my abilities.” She then proposes an alternative that she believes would fall within my ‘vocal comfort zone.’

Instead, they go on to play the 2009 SNL spoof tune known as “D**k in a Box,” eliciting enthusiastic clapping and shouts from the spectators.

Later on, they transitioned to the song “Motherlover,” a performance by Justin Timberlake and Samberg when Timberlake hosted Saturday Night Live in 2009.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but stand there, spellbound, as the legendary musician captivated both Kevin Costner and Billy Crystal with her stunning performance that night. It was nothing short of magical!

At a certain moment, Costner crossed his arms over the back of his head, flashing a smile while he admired Cher in wonder.
