One of the best rom-coms of all-time is on TV tonight for Valentine’s Day
One of the greatest rom-coms ever is airing on TV tonight.
Today being Valentine’s Day, Film4 has planned an enchanting night filled with timeless romantic films, concluding with the screening of “Notting Hill” at 9 pm.
In the 1999 film penned by Richard Curtis, Hugh Grant portrays a charming bookstore owner who develops feelings for the renowned Hollywood actress, played by Julia Roberts, following her visit to his store in Notting Hill.
5:20 PM finds me tuning in to the heartwarming ‘Films From the Heart’ series on my favorite channel for a blast from the past with the classic movie “Clueless.” At 7:10 PM, I can’t resist following it up with another fun-filled journey in time as I watch “13 Going on 30”!
The movie “Notting Hill” was a major hit for both Grant and Roberts, although Roberts admitted recently that she almost declined the part of Anna Scott in the film.
In an interview for British Vogue, she reminisced about her experience working on your film, portraying a film actress: “To be honest, that was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever undertaken. I felt incredibly uneasy!
It seems like we’ve discussed this role on numerous occasions, yet I nearly turned it down due to an uncomfortable feeling. Honestly, I was unsure about portraying that character as I didn’t know how to embody them.
2023 saw Curtis disclose that he was involved in a comedic skit for a Notting Hill sequel instead.
As an ardent enthusiast, I’d love to share that I penned a potential sequel to “Notting Hill” titled “Notting Hill 2“. This short spin-off would unfold in a divorce lawyer’s office where Hugh and Julia find themselves at a crossroads, contemplating their separation. However, as the story unravels, they both rediscover their deep-seated love for each other. I shared this intriguing concept during an interview on the Have You Seen? Podcast.
Previously, Curtis had created short spin-offs of his films “Love Actually” and “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” which were never officially released, for the charity event Comic Relief.
