Paul Brunson Shatters Sex Myth: The Real Key to Relationship Happiness
According to dating advisor Paul Brunson, he debunked a common misconception about relationships – the idea that having sex increases happiness within a partnership, is not entirely accurate.
As a die-hard fan, here I am, eagerly sharing my thoughts from the wise guide of “Married At First Sight,” aged 50, who generously spilled insights about the most common misconceptions surrounding love, just in time for Valentine’s Day this coming Friday.
During their conversation on the Heart Radio Breakfast show, Paul, known for his expertise in Celebs Go Dating, shared an interesting point with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden: ‘In other words, increased happiness tends to accompany a greater frequency of intimate experiences.’
In my perspective, I often ponder over this question: Is it a myth or a truth that increased intimacy leads to heightened happiness?
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I chuckled and joked, “You’re seeking advice from the wrong one!” Meanwhile, my fellow co-host, with his impressive two decades of marital bliss (though he might beg to differ), added, “Not that it’s an absolute, but I’ve been there for quite some time.
Afterward, Paul explained: ‘In essence, what this suggests is that individuals who interact more frequently, on average exceeding once a week, may experience greater happiness. However, that’s not the whole story. What truly matters is the establishment of an emotional bond.’
The more secure you feel in your relationship, the more fulfilling your sexual experiences tend to be. It’s essential to understand that quality, rather than quantity, should be the primary focus when it comes to intimacy.
Rather than evaluating the strength of your relationship based on the frequency of sexual intimacy, consider focusing on whether you feel secure and connected with your partner instead.
Inquired about whether he had already bought a Valentine’s Day gift for his wife Jill, whom he married in 2000, Paul disclosed: ‘No, I surprised her instead. Her most admired artist worldwide. We attended a lecture, and she got to meet her favorite visual artist.’
Jamie wondered if the surprise was planned out or if it was just a happy coincidence, and Paul disclosed: “Not at all, I planned it carefully. You see, I believe the most meaningful gifts require some thought.
To truly connect with your partner, it’s essential to understand their interests and passions, then invest time in fulfilling those desires, not necessarily by spending large amounts of money.
Paul is widely recognized by audiences as an authority on both Married At First Sight UK and Celebs Go Dating, but he has also garnered attention through his insightful discussions with celebrities on his podcast, We Need To Talk.
Celebrities like Maura Higgins, Pete Wicks, and Megan Barton Hanson have shared their personal hardships in an extended program.
In a chat with The Mirror, Paul opened up about his romantic evenings with his spouse, Jill. They are parents to two boys, Liam and Kingston.

He said: ‘I mean, we’re all over the place, doing everything.
‘When I use the word “everything,” it could mean something as simple as taking a bus ride – but this ordinary activity might turn into a date because we’d travel the entire route, get off at specific stops, take photos of interesting sights, make it a friendly competition to see who takes the best picture, then share them with our niece for her opinion on which one is best.’
Alternatively, let’s plan a trip to Romania this coming weekend, visit Dracula’s Castle (Vlad Tepes’ Castle), and delve into its rich history.
The charm lies in having an exceptional companion whom you delight in being with, as you find yourself eager to discover the globe together.
Tune in daily from 6:30 am to 10:00 am for Heart Breakfast featuring Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, broadcast nationwide in the UK as well as on the Global Player platform.
