List of Changes coming with the new Brawl Stars Ranked Update
Here are the upcoming changes coming in the new Ranked Season:
Introduction of the new Ranked progression system called Pro Pass
Beginning with the upcoming season, Brawl Stars is rolling out a fresh progression system akin to the Brawl Pass, which they’re calling the Pro Pass. This new system offers both a free and premium track. Unlike the Brawl Pass, the Pro Pass spans over four months, synchronizing with significant Brawl esports tournaments that occur annually. The Pro Pass costs $24.99 for a four-month period and comes equipped with 5 Pro skins upgrades, 11 Pins, 2 Sprays, 3 Icons, 600 Gems, and 5000 Coins.
Just like how I climb the Brawl Pass ranks, I need to gather Pro Pass Experience Points (XP) to move forward, which can be earned by triumphing in Ranked matches or by engaging with esports broadcasts on the official site. My XP resets weekly, and leveling up brings more rewards. If I choose to invest in the Pro Pass, it’ll give me an instant progress boost, double the Pro Pass XP, and even expand my weekly limit.

Note that while watching Esports isn’t essential to finish the Pass, it can expedite your progress. Additionally, the complimentary track offers more attractive prizes compared to the existing Ranked system, with a Legendary Starr Drop serving as the ultimate reward. If you’re already a Master or Legendary player, the free track may not offer substantial benefits, but it’s extremely beneficial for other players.
Introducing Pro, the new Skin Rarity
The game will introduce a fresh skin rarity called Pro. This skin can be improved up to 11 times by gathering Skin upgrade items from the Pro Pass or via Ranked Drops, eight months following its release. I’m thrilled about this because with each improvement, the Skin receives visual enhancements such as a new Spawn SFX or additional cosmetics like a new animated Brawler Battle Card.

With this update, you can earn a Legendary-grade Skin in the free part of the Pass each season. I’m thrilled because the initial Pro skin will be for Colt, who happens to be my favorite character. As for the enhancements:
- The first upgrade in the Free track unlocks the Base skin.
- The second upgrade in the free track includes a Pin, Profile Picture, and Spray.
- The third one in the free track adds Special Attack effects.
- The fourth upgrade in the free track provides an upgraded skin model.
- The fifth upgrade in the free track grants 8 Pins.
- The sixth upgrade in the free track introduces Special Takedown effects.
- The seventh upgrade in the paid track features a new cosmetic: Animated Brawler Card.
- The eighth upgrade in the paid track adds Special Spawn and Respawn effects.
- The ninth upgrade in the paid track unlocks the Hypercharge form.
- The tenth upgrade in the paid track includes Chroma 1.
- The eleventh upgrade in the paid track includes Chroma 2.
Ranked will be competitive starting next season
The Brawl team expressed that their primary aim for the Ranked mode was to make it more welcoming to less experienced players, and they succeeded in achieving this! However, they noticed that as the player base grew, it became too casual for those seeking a challenge. To address this, they have revamped the system to provide:
1. A new Tier for the highest level of play
A fresh level above Masters has been added, called Pro, and this new rank will grant players access to the esports feature for those who wish to participate in Brawl Stars esports competitions. Notably, the Masters ranking system is now divided into three tiers: Masters I, II, and III, with each tier requiring 1000 Elo points to progress. Moving up a tier within Legendary requires accumulating 750 Elo points.
2. The team is tackling Elo inflation from multiple angles
To combat Elo inflation, they’ve eliminated the Floor Protection for Mythic and higher tiers, so if you lose too many matches, you can now be moved down to Diamond rank. However, it’s important to note that while Elo points earned have been boosted, it will be tougher to climb if you’re already in the Legendary league or above.
1) Rank Boost remains accessible up to Mythic level, but its values have been noticeably decreased. Moreover, the rules for Trio and Duo team-ups have become stricter as you progress, preventing you from competing together in ranked matches if your friend’s rank is significantly lower than yours.
3. Improvement in Matchmaking
They’ve improved the system for finding suitable opponents, leading to quicker wait times at lower skill levels and more stringent matchups at higher ones. Additionally, the Elo search range won’t extend beyond your rank limits anymore, ensuring fair competition. Plus, monthly rank resets will no longer place you in the lowest Bronze tier. To top it off, players in Mythic and above will now require a collection of 12 Power Level 11 Brawlers to participate in matches.
4. Removed Modifiers in Ranked

The team has eliminated modifiers and is planning to bring in innovative changes to enhance your experience with Ranked Seasons. They mentioned that modifiers were difficult for casual players to grasp and limited the variety of playable Brawlers excessively.
5. There are big changes to Gadgets
With this recent upgrade, you can utilize the devices without any limitations in terms of usage. Each gadget has a cooldown period that varies from 7 seconds to 30 seconds, based on their strength. Moreover, the +1 Gadget Gear has been revamped, transforming into a gear with a reduced cooling-off time. This enhancement isn’t limited solely to Ranked mode; it applies across all game modes.
New Game modes coming every month in Ranked
The Brawl team announced their intention to try out a fresh game mode for Ranked matches every month, initially in the Trophy mode. If they find that the mode works well competitively, it’ll be incorporated into Ranked play, but if not, it will receive additional fine-tuning or modifications before being introduced again.
As an enthusiastic gamer, I’m thrilled to share that our first upcoming game mode goes by the name “Cleaning Duty“. In essence, it’s a fresh take on a familiar concept, similar to “Jelly Catch“. However, we have some more work cut out for us with the next mode, Brawl Hockey. The team has hinted that this one needs a bit more conversation and tweaking before it hits the field.
You can try maxed-out Brawlers every Season
![](https://i0.wp.com/gamingonphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/brawl-stars-maxed-out-brawlers.jpg)
In my opinion, this new approach is exceptional since it lets you employ three completely top-tier Brawlers in the competitive Ranked mode each season, with the lineup changing every season for variety. This enables you to test various Brawlers, witness their peak performance, and adapt your team when necessary – something that’s not feasible under the current setup. Additionally, using these maxed-out Brawlers will contribute towards the Brawler Rank prerequisites as well.
New changes to Ranked Drops
The Pro Pass now ensures Pro Skins; as a result, changes will occur in the Ranked Drops. Existing Ranked skins obtained from Ranked Drops will continue to be available, with more cosmetic items being added, such as exclusive Profile Pictures, Pins, and Sprays specifically for Ranked Drop users.
Moreover, the “Skin Enhancement” item for professional skins will be accessible via Ranked Drops eight months following its initial release. Notably, Pro Pass XP has been added to the list of rewards you can earn from Ranked Drops as well.
New Paint Jobs are coming for Ranked 2025
![](https://i0.wp.com/gamingonphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/brawl-stars-new-ranked-cards.jpg)
Brawl Stars is revamping its Ranked system with fresh visuals for all the ranks, including new Ranked Tiers and Battle Cards. You’ll have the opportunity to gather these novel Battle Cards, a bonus being that they no longer fade away, and become yours permanently upon collection. Moreover, you now have the freedom to select which cards show up on your in-game profile for display.
A few other Ranked improvements
You should be aware of some changes to the Ranked system that are coming up. With the new version, Ranked 2.0, seasons will now begin on the third Thursday of every month instead of the previous schedule. The first season under this new format will kick off immediately after the update on February 25, 2023, and run until April 16, 2025. After that, the second Ranked 2.0 Season will start on April 17, 2025, which is the third Thursday of that month.
Furthermore, instead of displaying the Brawler mastery badge, a Ranked emblem will appear in Ranked mode. You can also mark your favorite Brawlers by giving them a Heart, which will bring them to the forefront during the Brawler selection phase for Ranked matches. Lastly, the viewing distance for both Red and Blue team spawn points is standardized.
