Onimusha: Way of the Sword Trailer Reveals Protagonist Miyamoto Musashi

Capcom has unveiled the protagonist of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the renowned Japanese historical figure Miyamoto Musashi. This fierce young samurai is equipped with the iconic Oni Gauntlet, an item that appears to engage in conversation with him.

Remarkably, the main character in “Way of the Sword” is fashioned after the legendary samurai film actor Toshiro Mifune, renowned for his roles in numerous Akira Kurosawa samurai films such as “Seven Samurai,” “Throne of Blood,” “Yojimbo,” and “The Hidden Fortress.” The series also maintains its practice of casting real-life actors for the lead role.

In the role of Musashi, you’ll confront swarms of demonic Genma in Kyoto, fighting your way through contaminated landscapes, enshrouded in “wicked clouds of Malice,” which are conjuring forth nightmarish creatures, such as the axe-carrying Byakue. Fortunately, you’ll be equipped with the Oni Gauntlet and the game’s innovative sword combat system.

In the trailer below, you’ll find more insights about “Onimusha: Way of the Sword,” which is set to debut on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2026. I’m really looking forward to it! Perhaps the remastered version of “Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny” will also be exciting when it arrives in May.
