Another Major Australian Music Festival Canceled as Industry Struggles to Survive
Another Australian music festival has been cancelled.
The R’n’B festival called “Souled Out” was formally canceled on Thursday. Organizers posted a sad message on social media, explaining that the event is no longer able to continue financially.
With sadness, we regret to inform you that Souled Out has been cancelled for this year.
Regrettably, despite our utmost attempts, the event failed to garner sufficient backing to maintain its financial stability. Similar to numerous Australian festivals, we’ve encountered persistent hurdles in the present market environment.
Following an exhaustive examination of all available alternatives, it has become necessary for us to regrettably scrap this year’s Souled Out event.
The upcoming festival features American R&B artists Don Toliver, Vince Staples, Jhené Aiko, and 6lack as the main acts.
The concerts scheduled for Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane have all been called off, and the organizers promised to issue refunds to those who held tickets.
The festival was first held in Australia in 2023 and was headlined by US singer Kehlani.
2025’s Australian music festivals have suffered another setback with the cancellation news, following closely on the heels of Splendour in the Grass being called off for the same year.
In January, it was officially announced that the popular Byron Bay music festival would not take place for the second consecutive year.
Hello everyone! We hope this message finds you well. There’s been some silence lately because we took a small break – a much-needed one, as it turns out!
The rest of our festival crew are hard at work creating exciting new offerings for music enthusiasts in Australia, however, Splendour requires a bit more rest before we can return. Unfortunately, we won’t make an appearance this year.
2024’s Splendour Festival, boasting performances from artists such as Kylie Minogue, G Flip, Tash Sultana, and Fontaines D.C., was unexpectedly canceled just days following ticket sales commencement.

Organisers cited ‘unexpected events’ as the reason behind the last minute cancellation.
2026 may not be certain for the festival’s comeback, but organizers invite music enthusiasts to view this pause as an opportunity for them to grow and return stronger in the future when the moment is perfect.
The conclusion carried a sense of optimism as the organizers of Splendour mentioned there are many significant events coming up in the future.
They mentioned to stay alert for upcoming news as they’re eager to reveal the projects they’ve been developing!
In a different conversation with Rolling Stone, the team behind the festivals at Live Nation expressed their wholehearted backing for Splendour in the Grass to return whenever they believe it’s appropriate.
Live music fans and promoters had hoped that the tent pole festival would return this year.
