How To Unlock Book Writing in Heartopia
In Heartopia, you need to progress to a certain point before you can begin writing books. First, you’ll need to reach Level 16 in the Developer’s Guild. After that, writing books will unlock as a Dream Goal. The game will then guide you through a quick set of quests to introduce you to the book writing process.
After that, you’ll talk to Annie, who will point you in the right direction. Then, you’ll complete some tasks with Mrs. Joan, and she’ll officially explain how to publish your own books.
After completing a few tasks, you’ll reach Ka Ching’s General Store, where you can buy your first Writing Desk. This desk is important because you’ll use it to write, revise, and publish your books.
Okay, so once I finally got the desk, all I had to do was put it in my house. Then, just clicking on it brought up the writing screen, and that’s it! Now I can write books whenever I want – it’s become a permanent hobby, which is awesome!
How To Write and Publish Books in Heartopia
Heartopia offers a surprisingly open and flexible writing experience. It’s designed to feel natural and help you be creative, rather than holding you back.
Creating a Manuscript
First, start a new book by opening the Creation menu on your in-game computer and clicking the plus icon. After that, you can begin the following steps:
- Enter a title for your book.
- Confirm the title to access the writing menu.
You can start organizing your book right away. It can be divided into chapters, with each chapter allowing up to 4,500 words. This provides plenty of space to write everything from brief guides to complete novels.
Formatting and Editing Tools
Heartopia offers a variety of formatting tools to help you refine your work. You can customize things like font size and style by clicking the settings icon.
- First-line indentation
- Paragraph spacing
The interface is designed to make working with text simple – you can easily copy, paste, and move things around. This makes editing your writing feel less like a chore. You can also add images from your photo album at the bottom of the screen. While not required, images can really enhance your book’s visual appeal.
Adding images is connected to setting a Dream Goal, which gives you even more benefit. If you want your book to really shine, think about taking photos specifically for it. However, a text-only book is still a great option and can be published without any problems.
Publishing Your Book
When you’re happy with your manuscript, go to the book tab and click the global icon to open the publishing options. Here, you’ll complete the final steps before publishing, like setting important details.
- A tagline for your book
- A short description limited to 100 characters
- A publication date, which can be either real-world or in-game
To publish a book, you need a Book Publishing Permit. You’ll get ten permits for free after finishing the starting quest. If you need more, you can buy them for 10 Moonlight Crystals each. Don’t forget to design a cover for your book before you publish it!
