Poisoning
In simpler terms, prior to the high-profile dispute with Justin Baldoni, Blake Lively openly acknowledged that she had attempted to manage the public story about her past colleagues for several years.
In an old interview from 2009 that recently re-emerged, the actress, aged 37 at the time, openly admitted she had created tension among the cast of Gossip Girl towards Penn Badgley (also 38) by spreading negative remarks about him.
Initially disappointed with the casting choice of Badgley as Dan Humphrey, Serena Van Der Woodsen’s character, expressed her displeasure by trying to turn others against him.
Initially, I was quite displeased when he got the job, she confided in Glamour magazine. In fact, I secretly worked to turn everyone else against him.
‘But then they noticed that he wasn’t a jerk and was actually a really nice, charming person.’
She added: ‘Almost immediately I realised that too, but it took me about a week to admit it.’

Instead of insisting, she emphasized that there was no hostility amongst the cast while working, pointing out that they often socialize following filming sessions, even expressing eagerness for their off-work interactions.
In the popular TV series, Badgley portrayed Lively’s romantic interest on screen, and off camera, they were a couple for a span of three years, starting from 2007.
In 2010, they chose to part ways privately, concealing this fact from their show’s management to prevent any potential personal issues from affecting the program.
In response to Blair Waldorf actress, Blake Lively’s recent legal issues, her former Gossip Girl co-stars, including Chace Crawford (who played Nate Archibald), have yet to speak publicly, fueling speculation about potential backstage disagreements during the show’s run from 2007 to 2012 on The CW network. This revives whispers of strained relationships among the cast of the popular series.
In my line of work, I’ve always been keen on shedding light on the personal lives of celebrities, especially when it comes to their friendships. At one point, there were whispers about tension between Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, both stellar actors portraying Blair Waldorf in our beloved show. Interestingly, these rumors seemed to be validated by Joshua Safran, the executive producer, and a spokesperson for Blake Lively themselves.
Neither Meester or Badgley follow Lively on Instagram.
It’s worth noting that Badgley and Baldoni have previously appeared on podcasts together, and they also follow one another on social media platforms.
In November 2021, the duo were seen together in New York. They took a picture with a fan who uploaded it on X, which Baldoni eventually shared and tagged Badgley, captioning it: “It seems we’ve been spotted by #GossipGirl.

One significant bond they share is their adherence to the Baha’i faith – a relatively small but globally recognized religious movement founded by an Iranian prophet in the 19th century, boasting over eight million followers worldwide today.
In recent developments, Lively’s interview with Glamour is once again being discussed, following her contentious legal dispute with Baldoni. She alleged that he sexually harassed her and masterminded a defamation campaign against her after collaborating on Colleen Hoover’s “It Ends With Us.” However, he has refuted these allegations.
Audience members were puzzled by her actions during the promotion of the movie in August, as she primarily talked about her alcohol brand and haircare line rather than delving into the film’s central topic: domestic violence.
Unearthed from the past was an interview featuring Magnus Sundholm, a Los Angeles-dwelling journalist for the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, who found himself taken aback and uneasy when Lively unexpectedly approached him during her promotional activities for A Simple Favor in 2018.
In simpler terms, Sundholm alleged that she manipulated the conversation to promote her husband Ryan Reynold’s liquor brand during the interview, which he deemed as underhanded, inexpensive, and impolite.
Months later, the uncomfortable interaction was revisited following the spread of a video showing Blake Lively snapping at a different journalist, as well as Kjersti Flaa’s video going viral where she is Sundholm’s girlfriend.
Lively appeared to take aim at Flaa after she congratulated the actress on her pregnancy.
‘First of all, congrats on your little bump,’ she said.

Lively looked annoyed and shot back: ‘Congrats on your little bump.’ Flaa was not pregnant.
In August, the journalist uploaded the video on YouTube, titling it “The Blake Lively Interview That Made Me Contemplate Leaving My Job.
In a conversation with DailyMail.com back in December, she stated: ‘Now is the moment when those who misbehave in Hollywood, or indeed elsewhere, should be held accountable for their actions.’
At the Forbes Power Women’s Summit in 2022, she spoke about challenging producers by insisting on having more control over her projects’ creative aspects.
The footage acquired by TMZ depicts the celebrity explaining her approach for initial encounters, predominantly acting roles at first, but later expressing a desire for greater control or creative influence over the project.
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but follow the intense struggle between Lively and Baldoni, who found himself at the receiving end of her explosive lawsuit alleging sexual misconduct last year. Quite a turn of events!
Later on, The New York Times published an article supported by Lively’s court documents, alleging that he and his PR team masterminded a malicious gossip campaign against her.
Baldoni has filed a lawsuit against both Lively and her husband Reynolds, seeking $400 million, alleging that they collaborated to tarnish his reputation in Hollywood.
Additionally, he alleged that she utilized her friendship with Taylor Swift as a means to bully him during discussions about the revisions she’d made to the rooftop sequence in their movie, involving Reynolds.
At the start of this month, he launched a site where his lawyers claimed it contained evidence supporting their side in the court case with Lively, which they referred to as receipts.
All parties have vehemently denied the allegations.
A trial is scheduled for March 9, 2026.
