Britney Spears’ Ex Reveals Fears During Her Conservatorship
In an uncommon interview, Britney Spears‘ former spouse, Sam Asghari, shares his thoughts on the subject of her high-profile conservatorship, explaining why he experienced fear throughout the ordeal.
In the year 2016, the pair crossed paths while filming Britney Spears’ Slumber Party music video. Six years later, they tied the knot in 2022, having been a couple throughout that time.
However, Asghari shocked fans — and Spears herself — by filing for divorce 14 months later.
In Wednesday’s episode of The Viall Files, the 30-year-old actor shared insights on his seven-year relationship with Spears, who is 43 years old, stating that it played a significant role in his personal experiences.
Regarding Britney Spears’ conservatorship, which ended in November 2021 following a 12-year period, Asghari shared with host Nick Viall that it felt unusual for him to handle the situation.
Back in 2008, a judge made the decision, without Britney’s consent, to place her under a conservatorship, with her father, Jamie Spears, managing her assets throughout this period.

Asghari revealed that he discovered about Britney’s exceptional legal predicament at the start of their relationship in 2016, yet it wasn’t through her own disclosure.
In a twist that left me utterly bewildered, I found myself smack-dab in the middle of an unexpected situation. Back when our journey together began with Britney Spears, I was taken aback by it all. [I shared this revelation] with Viall.
When Viall inquired whether Britney had clarified the matter to him, Asghari replied that he became aware of it through someone on her team instead.
He declared that she hadn’t provided an explanation. Instead, someone phoned him and mentioned casually, “By the way, take note of this – it’s about our regulations and guidelines.
Asghari, having moved to the U.S. from Iran as a 12-year-old, expressed concerns that Britney might have been held back or dominated.
He shared that his background is from a place where such issues had been addressed previously. Specifically, he mentioned struggles faced by women due to lifelong suppression and control by men.
I found myself thinking, “This seems odd, but hold on, this is the United States. Something isn’t adding up.
In my professional expertise, following that conversation with an undisclosed associate of Britney Spears, I chose not to immediately share the details with her personally.

Indeed, not a foregone conclusion for me. I’ve been deeply invested and have truly made an effort to grasp the reasoning behind its establishment. I found myself questioning, “Why was this arrangement implemented from the start?” I shared these thoughts with Viall.
In the conversation, it seemed like Asghari was expressing his limited ability to alter the circumstances, given his role as the singer’s boyfriend.
‘It seems like you’re not contributing many thoughts, particularly when we consider your role as a boyfriend or someone who is merely present in her life.’
He also admitted that he was ‘afraid’ of losing Britney if he tried to rock the boat.
‘I was afraid they were gonna maybe make me not see her and things like that,’ he said.
Rather than taking on any direct role himself, Asghari made every effort to serve as a source of comfort and encouragement for Britney. He advised Viall, “Be tender and offer assistance whenever possible.
Viall’s spouse and co-host, Natalie Joy, inquired whether Sam encountered potential problems or conflicts from Britney’s estate if he did not abide by the guidelines and legal restrictions established for her care.
Asghari appeared to dodge the question and, in turn, utilized it to quell widespread rumors suggesting he was subjected to a ‘restraining order.’

‘What I do have is an upbringing with a lot of respect and what I do have is morals,’ he said.
I find it uncomfortable discussing the topic. There seems to be so much interest and curiosity surrounding it, and yet it feels odd not to address it.
When asked about his experience being in a relationship with a major global star, Asghari described it as a “crash course in Hollywood, teaching me all about the ins and outs of Tinseltown.
He seemed to describe Britney as a ‘megastar’ who was ‘vulnerable’ to the people closest to her.
He admired being connected to someone so highly respected, someone who stood atop their realm – someone Taylor Swift aspires to emulate and who everyone else is inspired by, he found truly awe-inspiring.
He referred to Britney as a “blueprint” and suggested that contemporary pop stars are “far from” achieving her legendary status.
‘I am a fan now after being with her for seven years,’ Asghari admitted.
As a lifestyle advisor, I’ve had the opportunity to witness firsthand the dedication and effort required to achieve one’s goals. Let me tell you, it’s no walk in the park – it takes tireless commitment and perseverance. However, sometimes, the personal sacrifices and challenges that come along with this hard work just don’t seem worth it, especially when weighed against the potential outcomes.

On the podcast, Sam also admitted to signing an NDA.
He pointed out: ‘In Hollywood, you can’t even go to the bathroom without signing a non-disclosure agreement… That’s the real essence of it.’
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must confess that parting ways with a beloved in a romantic relationship can be quite disheartening, but I find solace in cherishing the memories we’ve created together and the precious moments we shared.
Sam clarified: ‘I’ve never liked when people share personal stories for attention or advantage, especially when it comes to my life. I lived through it, experienced it. However, there are topics that should be discussed openly and others that shouldn’t. Regardless of the reason, I believe privacy is essential.’
What I believe is crucial is the time we shared and the knowledge we gained from each other. This experience significantly impacted not just my life but hers too.
