Thunderbolts* might have spoiled its biggest mystery in an unexpected way
Thunderbolts* might have spoiled its biggest mystery in an unexpected way.
Initially, when the movie’s first preview came out in November, there was an asterisk on its title that sparked curiosity among fans. After the second trailer dropped during the Super Bowl over the weekend, a tweet from Marvel Studios Japan could potentially have revealed what it was all about.
The article showcases the movie’s Japanese poster, where at the base you can see the text in English stating, “The Avengers are unavailable.
The post asks, using the Translate feature, “What’s the secret message in the asterisk of the title?” or simply “Can you interpret the symbolism in the asterisk of the title?
In simpler terms, are we understanding correctly that the asterisk serves as a humorous twist, hinting that this group of unconventional heroes is stepping up to solve the problem because the Avengers aren’t around, much like how a commercial for a free trial might have fine print stating “free trial only applies to new accounts”?
It’s uncertain until the movie is released, but there are speculations that the group could be renamed the New Avengers (or possibly Dark Avengers) by Valentina, who seems questionable. Given the team’s displeasure with their name in the trailer, they might even choose to rename themselves.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that “Captain America: Brave New World” is set to premiere this week, where Captain America will square off against President ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross who has metamorphosed into the Red Hulk.
The actor playing Red Guardian expressed his enthusiasm, stating the asterisk was “extremely intriguing,” and hinted at fans looking forward to discovering its significance.
We’ll have to wait and what’s going on, as Thunderbolts* releases in cinemas on May 2.
