Serena Williams’ Shocking Reason for Joining Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Show
In their own words, tennis champion Serena Williams talks about the background of her unexpected appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl half-time performance.
43-year-old exceptional tennis player could be seen momentarily dancing to Lamar’s 2024 song, “Not Like Us” – a track aimed as a diss against her former boyfriend, Drake.
Now, it’s been disclosed that Lamar approached her following the impressive crip walk performance he saw at the 2012 Olympics.
As an excited follower, I eagerly embraced the one-of-a-kind chance presented to me and decided to recreate the iconic dance.
She explained the origin of the dance by posting backstage footage from the Super Bowl half time show on her Instagram account.
Kendrick Lamar and his team contacted her and suggested an idea they had been considering for a long time: ‘What about this?’ They were particularly fond of the Crip Walk she performed at the Olympics following her gold medal win, as indicated in her post’s caption alongside the video.
Am I similar to the Super Bowl? That’s quite a stretch! Dancing at the Super Bowl isn’t something that’ll happen for me, ever. But hey, let’s make it happen!
‘I knew my winning dance after the @olympics would pay off one day. End of story.’
