It is said that Liam Payne’s father, Geoff, allegedly made an effort to admit his struggling son to a mental health facility several months before his passing at the age of 31, as he took every measure possible to protect him.
In April 2024, when the One Direction singer was admitted to the hospital in a critical state, according to Rolling Stone’s reports, his father made efforts to assist him during his recovery.
It seems that Liam started the year in a vulnerable condition, requiring hospitalization at a rehabilitation facility in Spain the very same month he launched his last single, “Teardrops.” However, reports suggest he departed prior to finishing the treatment program.
After falling off the wagon during the ensuing weeks, it’s alleged that Geoff attempted to help when his son struggled with substance abuse, but Liam reportedly declined his father’s requests for him to seek treatment at a rehabilitation center.
During this time, it was said that Liam’s team refused the proposal for Liam to embark on a South American tour due to his health condition not being suitable for extensive travel.
According to the report, Liam passed up on multiple chances to promote his single through interviews, live performances, and special events.

A little over a month prior to his passing, Liam was let go by his American record label, Universal Republic, due to several issues related to his wellbeing among other reasons.
According to a source, the record label chose to end their professional partnership with him due to various considerations and health concerns, instead of releasing more music. (Rolling Stone was informed this way.)
The split from Universal Republic was legally formalised by September.
Meanwhile, according to the U.S. site’s information, it seemed that during that period, people close to Liam thought he was content because he resided at a polo club in Wellington, Florida.
As I reminisce about my pal Liam, I’m struck by the vivid image of his daily life. He found joy in both the quiet solitude of creating art through drawing and songwriting, and the thrill of adventure with horseback riding and polo games.
In Geoff’s statement given to the Argentine authorities, it was mentioned that Liam was enjoying a game of polo and appeared quite graceful.
Last month, it was announced that Geoff is facing a $10 million lawsuit for defamation. This lawsuit comes from his late son’s friend who alleges that Geoff has unfairly blamed him as the cause of the celebrity’s demise, making him a scapegoat.
On October 16 of last year, Roger Nores, an American entrepreneur, was one of the last individuals who interacted with the singer prior to his tragic fall from a hotel balcony on the third floor in Buenos Aires, before he unfortunately passed away.

Last month, Nores was surprisingly indicted for manslaughter. This is because he left Liam on his own, aware that Liam couldn’t take care of himself due to various addictions, and also understanding that Liam would likely face hardships without proper care.
In my professional opinion as a lifestyle consultant, it was regrettable that the staff member at CasaSur Palermo Hotel did not meet their responsibilities in providing care, assistance, and support to the artist during their stay – ultimately leading to their tragic demise.
Additionally, four individuals – Gilda Martin (hotel manager), Ezequiel Pereyra (hotel employee), Esteban Grassi (hotel receptionist), and Braian Paiz (waiter) – are also facing charges connected to the singer’s passing.
Currently, Nores alleges that Geoff, the star’s father, inflicted damages worth over $10 million on him, which he claims are irreversible. This claim is made in a court case filed in Palm Beach, Florida.
Roger affirms that all the remaining funds from the legal proceedings will be given to Liam’s child, Bear.
He alleges that Geoff, a mechanic residing in Wolverhampton, made misleading, untrue, and damaging remarks under oath to police investigators in Buenos Aires who were probing the case of Liam’s demise, implicating him as a result.

He claims the ‘false’ statements are:
Geoff told police that Nores and Kate Cassidy were his nurses and were responsible for his care.
As a die-hard admirer, let me clarify that, contrary to some rumors, Nores emphasizes that although Liam was a cherished comrade, he neither accepted nor fulfilled the role as Liam’s caretaker. Moreover, there was no legal obligation binding him to Liam.
Additionally, Geoff reportedly shared with law enforcement that Roger Nores had allegedly taken Liam to meet an unidentified psychiatrist in Florida after Dr. Rhaidy stepped down. It is claimed that Nores then lied about Liam’s issues with substance abuse to this new doctor so he could receive psychiatric medication and bypass Dr. Rohaidy’s care suggestions.
However, Nores asserted that he and Liam had never jointly consulted another psychiatrist, and that there was simply no other psychiatrist involved. Consequently, Geoff’s statement about them hiding information is entirely fabricated. This means that Nores could not have concealed any details from a fictitious medical professional.
It’s also asserted that Geoff informed the police that he couldn’t leave his son alone, the boy didn’t possess a personal cellphone, and the only way to reach him was through his girlfriend, Kate, or Nores.
However, according to Nores, Liam often resided alone while dwelling in Florida and typically possessed his own mobile device, save for a brief period following its damage during a disagreement with Kate.

Lawyers representing Nores have requested that Geoff issue a correction or reconsideration of his statements made to the Argentine officials.
According to Nores, it was Geoff’s allegedly false statements that directly contributed to his arrest on manslaughter charges.
According to the document, it was the lies in Defendant Geoff’s sworn declarations that directly led to the harm and losses suffered by the Plaintiff, including damage to their reputation.
‘Defendant Geoff was aware or, if not aware, should have been because he could reasonably expect the misleading statements in the Two Sworn Declarations would lead to Plaintiff’s harm and losses in Palm Beach County, Florida, USA, and everywhere else. These misstatements directly caused these injuries and damages.’
