Newest Pokémon TCG set Destined Rivals will hit the market on May 30th

Various trainers and their Pokémon will take the spotlight in Pokémon TCG: Destined Rivals!

The upcoming tenth major expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, titled “Destined Rivals,” will be released on May 30. Pre-release events are scheduled between May 17 and May 25.

There’s a strong likelihood that Destined Rivals could serve as the English version of the Japanese sets Heat Wave Arena and The Glory of Team Rocket, with their respective releases slated for March 14th and April 18th.

Heat Wave Arena and The Glory of Team Rocket

As per the Japanese Pokémon Trading Card Game’s official website, the Heat Wave Arena will showcase cards illustrating different Pokémon belonging to characters named Hibiki (Ethan) and Kasumi (Misty). Notably, Hibiki’s Ho-oh ex card will serve as the prominent image for this collection.

Furthermore, it’s been disclosed through another means that in addition to the two trainers, Cynthia’s Garchomp EX and Arven’s Mabosstiff are also part of the upcoming Pokémon TCG block. This makes the theme of this set more focused on trainers.

Cards from The Glory of Team Rocket set are expected to resemble the cards from the classic Team Rocket sets dating back to April 2000, as well as the ex Team Rocket Returns set from 2004.

Currently, as I type this, none of the Team Rocket cards have been publicly displayed, however, here’s what we’ve gathered: One of these cards will feature Mewtwo ex, and each Pokemon in the set will carry the Rockets’ emblem.

More details on Destined Rivals in Pokémon TCG

It’s likely that Destined Rivals will feature a vast collection of cards, considering it could include not only Heat Wave Arena and The Glory of Team Rocket, but also other Pokémon trading cards owned by trainers such as Steven’s Metagross ex and Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex.

In Japan, you can find starter decks called “Starter Set decks” that include characters like Steven from the Hoenn region and Marnie from the Galar region.

Further details regarding the Pokémon Trading Card Game Scarlet and Violet: Destined Rivals will be revealed in the future, as the game’s developer is currently concentrating on the Journey Together expansion, scheduled for release on March 28.
