Death in Paradise’s Josephine Jobert shows heartfelt support for former co-star
Actress Josephine Jobert, from the show “Death in Paradise,” expressed warm admiration for her previous castmate Shantol Jackson after her captivating appearance on BBC’s “The One Show.
You rock that role beautifully! So proud of you!
In reply to Jackson’s compliment, Don Gillet was praised by her for seamlessly fitting into the role of the new lead detective on the show, as conveyed through a heartfelt note.
Jackson praised him by saying, “He’s an exceptional leading actor,” given that he portrays DS Naomi Thomas. “He manages the series admirably. He’s deeply invested in the characters and the plot, which makes working with Don a delightful experience.
As the newcomer in our game, taking over from Ralf Little as Detective Inspector Neville Parker, I must admit it’s been a smooth transition. The key focus for us was making sure Don felt at ease because this isn’t just about one individual; it’s about the team and the story we’re all part of.
As a devoted fan, it dawned on me just how colossal “Death in Paradise” truly is. Recognizing its immense popularity, our primary focus was ensuring that the new addition feels at ease. This way, everyone can continue to cherish the show we all adore.
She further clarified that the actors were equally concerned about ensuring Don felt comfortable, as this would allow the “show’s dynamic” to carry on smoothly. However, she quickly added that Gillet proved to be highly adaptable in these new circumstances.
After two weeks into the shooting of our Christmas special, everything was going smoothly. Off-camera as well as on, we had a delightful rapport. Working with Don is always an enjoyable experience. He’s quite the jovial character!
In the latest installment of “Death in Paradise”, DI Mervin, played by Gilet, took on a three-month assignment with the Saint Marie police department to investigate the mysterious death of his own mother.
In an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine, I revealed some exciting changes for season 14 of our game: “I believe what sets this apart is the narrative arc. Mervin’s story isn’t just a case-of-the-week; he’s on a deeply personal quest because he’s initially searching for his missing mother.
Gilet went on to explain that, following the news of his mother’s passing, Mervin felt a strong urge to remain in Saint Marie, even though he harbored some doubts.
Despite his attempts, he is obliged to remain in this location due to various struggles and discomfort with the people around him as he prefers not to stay.
Filming for season 15 of Death in Paradise is set to begin in April 2025.
Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
