For the upcoming Bachelor, starting on ABC from Monday, chose not to address concerns about racial issues within the dating series, as he’s more concerned with his own journey during this season.
On “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, Ortega shared that an unexpected health issue prevented her from joining Ellis for their scheduled solo date. She woke up from a nap feeling intense pain.
She explained to the “Bachelor in Paradise” alums, Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt, “I wake up feeling unwell with a pain in my stomach. I think, ‘Perhaps I just need to use the restroom or maybe something I ate didn’t agree with me.’ Soon after, I started vomiting.
For 12 straight hours, the discomfort persisted and she ended up vomiting repeatedly. She suspected it could be food poisoning or perhaps a panic attack brought on by anxiety causing her to feel nauseous.
She explained, ‘Although I didn’t feel anxious, something felt off. I was out on a date and at home alone, yet it still didn’t seem quite right.’ She trusted her instincts, adding, ‘I know my body well. It was telling me that all wasn’t well.’

Initially, the woman was transported to a hospital. There, they administered intravenous fluids and morphine, providing relief from her discomfort as she remarked, “At last, the pain subsided.” Three hours later, a physician informed her that she had appendicitis and would need immediate surgical intervention.
She stated that she didn’t shed tears, instead saying something like, “I was more like, ‘Alright, since neither family nor friends are here, I’m about to undergo major surgery on one of my organs.’ In 2018, I had my gallbladder removed. Now it’s my appendix that needs to come out. It feels as if I’m losing organs one after another.
I myself fell ill on a Tuesday last week, underwent surgery the next day, and found myself back home on a flight from California by Friday. My mother graciously joined me for the journey, and she admitted it took her approximately a month and a half to emotionally recuperate from the event. She was saddened as she had recently vacated the stage, having formed a bond with Ellis, and grappling with the question of “What if?” that seemed to shadow her every thought.
She and Ellis had “a lot of cute little moments” together on the show and shared a kiss, she said.

Rachael Kirkconnell discusses her breakup with ‘The Bachelor’ star Matt James, revealing that she was taken aback when he disclosed their separation through a post on social media.
I felt incredibly down and upset, almost devastated. Unfortunately, I couldn’t bid him farewell personally. There were things I wished to share with him, but didn’t get the chance. So, I found myself hoping that he wouldn’t think I abandoned him without a word.
Ortega wanted to remain on the show but knew it was best for her to call it quits.
“Everything happens for a reason,” she said.
She also hasn’t ruled out a future appearance on the franchise’s “Bachelor in Paradise.”
