It’s exciting news that Diego Armando Maradona, the renowned Argentine soccer star, is set to reappear in EA Sports FC 25 and FC Mobile this month. Diego Maradona will be making his long-awaited comeback to the franchise

Diego Maradona first gained recognition within EA Sports FIFA 18 and FIFA Mobile 18 back in 2018, during a time when the games were still officially licensed by FIFA. Following this, Maradona became a permanent fixture in both EA Sports FIFA and FIFA Mobile as an Icon until his sudden disappearance from the game in 2022.

In 2022, EA was compelled to remove Maradona entirely from their game, following a court decision that stated EA had secured the player’s image rights from Stefano Ceci, Maradona’s ex-manager, without actually owning them. This issue emerged after various lawsuits were initiated by Sattvica, a company belonging to Matias Morla (Maradona’s former lawyer), concerning Maradona’s trademark and likeness rights since the player’s demise.

In a sincere statement, EA acknowledged their regret over eliminating Diego Maradona from the game, but hinted at the possibility of reintroducing “one of football’s most legendary figures” back into the game in the future. Lastly, following a three-year hiatus, the Argentine World Cup champion is making his comeback to the EA Sports franchise this month.

Maradona might not be the only “new” Icon coming to FC Mobile

Based on rumors and reports concerning the now-named EA Sports FC, there’s a possibility that a fresh batch of Icons and Heroes could soon join both EA Sports FC 25 and FC Mobile. According to a well-known leaker known as ASY FUT, legendary players like Diego Maradona, Franz Beckenbauer, Gervinho, Seydou Doumbia, and Víctor Ibarbo have allegedly been added by EA to debut as Icon or Heroes in the near future.

Legendary footballer Franz Beckenbauer might return to the scene following a significant absence, last seen in EA Sports FIFA 17 and FIFA Mobile 17. Since then, he has been absent due to being excluded from the game following a suspension by the FIFA Ethics Committee. In contrast, Maradona and Beckenbauer are anticipated to debut as Icons, while Gervinho, Doumbia, and Ibarbo could join the roster in FC 25 and FC Mobile as Heroes.

❗️EA has just hinted at including the following legends as TOTY Icons: 😮😮😮😮

– Maradona 🇦🇷
– Beckenbauer 🇩🇪
– Gervinho 🇨🇮
– Doumbia 🇨🇮
– Ibarbo 🇨🇴

It’s unclear what EA has in store with these players or if they will actually release them, but it’s a massive hint! 🤯

Due to their popular status in the EA Sports FIFA franchise, the AS Roma trio of Gervinho, Doumbia, and Ibarbo were adored by fans for their exceptional speed and agility. It’s no surprise that their return as “Heroes” will spark memories of FIFA 15 among players.
