Phasmophobia’s Ambitious 2025 Roadmap Unveiled: Map Reworks, Character Overhaul, and More

Kinetic Games, creators of Phasmophobia, have unveiled their expansive plan for the ghost-hunting game, guiding it towards 2025 and beyond.

2025’s significant update, named ‘Chronicle’, will redefine the method of documenting diverse supernatural entities within the game, such as ghouls and ghosties, through images, videos, and even audio recordings. The Journal is set to receive a new Media tab for easy access to your ghostly photographs, movies, and sound clips captured using the upgraded Sound Recorder.

The latest Chronicle update hints at some hidden surprises, and the second update this year focuses on a revamp of the Player Character. This refresh encompasses a new character design, enhanced animations, and increased choices for players when it comes to their in-game Ghost Hunter. A complete character customization, however, is scheduled for 2026.

2026 brings us a significant update codenamed ‘Horror 2.0’, which is currently being tightly guarded. Additionally, we can expect a fresh small map this year, similar to the houses featured in Phasmophobia, and work on refining existing maps like Bleasdale Farmhouse, Grafton Farmhouse, and 6 Tanglewood Drive will commence with Bleasdale starting in March.

In a blog post, Kinetic explains that these updates are aimed at making the maps align with our comprehensive vision for them. This means you can anticipate significant artistic transformations across each map, featuring fresh assets and animations, meticulous visual detail, and some tweaks to the layout. However, they will essentially remain the familiar maps you cherish.

2026 is set to see new maps and updates, and this year will feature a variety of seasonal activities. One such event is the anticipated return of the ‘Blood Moon’ in October, and another is Krampus during the winter holiday season. The Easter event kicks things off in April.
