Long-delayed ‘brutal’ returning show finally gets first look as filming begins

HBO has shared a first-look photo from Euphoria season three.

The gritty teen series, characterized by reviewers as both “harsh” and “terrifying,” yet praised by others as “exciting” and “engrossing,” has just started shooting its third installment after numerous postponements since its season two premiere in January of 2022.

Here’s a fresh sneak peek at the approaching season, showcasing Zendaya reprising her role as Rue Bennett.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that in the third season of our favorite series, we’ll have Sydney Sweeney back as Cassie, Jacob Elordi reprising his role as Nate, Hunter Schafer returning as Jules, and Alexa Demie once again stepping into the shoes of Maddy. Can’t wait to see what unfolds!

One performer not coming back is Storm Reid, who has portrayed Rue’s younger sibling Gia from the first season onwards.

Regrettably, Gia won’t be part of the third season, but I want to express my deep gratitude to the entire cast and crew of that series, as well as HBO, a debt I can hardly repay, as Reid affirmed in November.

Euphoria holds a unique place, and it’s wonderful that it’s now a part of my lasting impact, as I was involved in this remarkable cultural movement… I’m eager to discover what awaits us in season 3.

In season three, there’s going to be a leap forward in time to account for the fact that the actors will appear older than they did during the initial episodes.

“With the time jump, it’s a new process for me,” Sweeney told Cosmopolitan last year.

I’m figuring things out along the way, keeping an open mind about what may happen next. Yet, I’m genuinely thrilled about it all.

Cassie is a role I adore, she’s full of excitement every time I portray her. I can’t wait to see how her story unfolds.

Euphoria airs on HBO and streams on Max in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and Sky Go/NOW in the UK.
