Actor Will Mellor’s Heartbreaking Loss: Sister’s Preventable Death Raises Questions
According to Mellor, his sister experienced neglect by her caretakers during a supervised stay, as she expressed fear of death – a heart attack ultimately being the cause – just moments before it happened.
In 2012, at the tender age of 44, my beloved sister Joanne, who lived with intricate challenges due to her birth, left us under circumstances I firmly believe could have been prevented.
During her recent vacation, the actress, aged 48, claimed that her caretaker, supposedly, failed to administer all the required medications and instead provided just one tablet per day, as opposed to the prescribed five.
In an interview about his upcoming series, “Cops Gone Bad,” the actor claimed that the caretaker had accused him of lying and wasn’t particularly polite in their conversations.
Despite the clear instructions stating five portions per day, I unfortunately only managed to provide her with one portion daily.
Later on, she returned and asked, “Is it possible that I’m about to perish?” After hearing this, my mother became hysterical, and we reached out to the company. A couple of weeks passed, and she unfortunately succumbed to a heart attack.

The Mellor family requested a review to determine if caregivers might have played a role in Joanne’s passing, as they allegedly disregarded medical guidelines provided by her physicians.
2013 investigation determined Joanne passed away due to natural reasons. However, the coroner stated there was no proof that the improperly administered medication led to Joanne’s demise. Despite this, she conveyed to her family that the circumstances surrounding her death were inappropriate and unacceptable.
The company confessed to making a mistake, but Will and his relatives are yet to get answers to their remaining questions.
Previously, the celebrity from Strictly opened up about the impact of grief and guilt on his life. Now, he’s dedicated to promoting understanding and support for mental health issues.
In his conversation with The Mirror, he expressed that he felt remorseful since he was her brother, and he couldn’t provide the help she needed. He explained further that due to her mental and physical disabilities, she appeared more like a child to him. This emotional burden was unbearable for him.
Apart from discussing his acting career, the performer candidly shared that he faced challenges dealing with grief following his sister’s passing. As a coping mechanism, he resorted to alcohol and gambling.
He confessed, “It’s been incredibly challenging. I never realized how sneaky grief could be, it can hide itself so well. I believed I was coping alright after losing my sister, but I was wrong. In the end, I resorted to alcohol and gambling – habits I would usually caution others against. But I felt helpless and didn’t know what else to do.
In April 2020, the sorrow that Will felt due to his father, Bill, passing away from cancer grew even more profound because he had only recently received the tragic news of his diagnosis.
The difficult loss I experienced was exacerbated by the stringent Covid-19 regulations that were in place at that moment. “When my father passed away, I simply cried when I felt like crying and let it all out,” he expressed. “I didn’t suppress it, I just released it.

Instead of bottling up my feelings with my sister, I strived to shield others from sorrow. I put on a brave face even as I felt broken within.
Since then, the actor has used his personal experiences to advocate for open discussions on men’s mental health, a topic often overlooked due to societal expectations of emotional suppression.
