Clash of Clans Town Hall 15 Guide: Upgrade priorities, Best bases, Attack strategies, and more
Back in October 2022, I was thrilled when the much-anticipated Town Hall 15 made its grand entrance in Clash of Clans! As a player who had maxed out my Town Hall 14 or completed every structure, this update opened up new opportunities for me. Now, I can upgrade my Town Hall and enjoy fresh defensive buildings like the Spell Towers and the Monolith. With higher levels of heroes, pets, troops, spells, and siege machines at my disposal, I’m ready to boost my attacks!
My guide will focus on the top upgrades to prioritize and provide insights into effective attack strategies for Town Hall 15. Additionally, I’ll offer advice on choosing the best farming and war bases in Clash of Clans TH15. Let’s conquer together!
Upgrading Town Hall to level 15
When you’ve filled up all the spaces for buildings in Town Hall Level 14 and boosted its level to 15, those structures become eligible for an upgrade. However, it is highly recommended to prioritize enhancing defenses, troops, spells, and essential units before considering this upgrade.
In October 2022, Supercell made a change in the game by getting rid of the four Barracks and two Dark Barracks, replacing them with one of each. This is intended to prevent overcrowding in the home village. Furthermore, they eliminated the cost of training every troop. Now, players can build any type of army without fretting about cost efficiency. What’s more, the Barracks, Dark Barracks, Spell Factory, and Dark Spell Factory will continue producing troops even during upgrades, but at half the normal speed.
To advance your Town Hall from TH14 to TH15 in CoC, you’ll need 16 million Gold and the upgrade process takes 11 days. After completion, the upgraded Town Hall will boast a stronger defense with hit points increased to 9,600. Regarding storage capacity, it remains consistent with TH14, offering space for 2 Million Gold and Elixir and 20,000 Dark Elixir. This is common practice across TH levels following Town Hall 11.
Town Hall 15: New Unlocked Buildings, Troops, and more
Once you elevate your Town Hall to level 15, you’ll gain access to construct higher levels for various buildings, defenses, and more. Notably, there are two new defensive structures that become available at Town Hall 15: the Spell Tower and the Monolith.
New Defense: Monolith
The Monolith is a powerful weapon that primarily targets tanks, dealing a set amount of damage per shot along with an extra bonus damage based on a percentage of the target’s maximum health points. This makes it particularly lethal against high-HP units like Tanks or Heroes. It can take out both ground and air troops, and it fires every 1.5 seconds.
The Monolith consists of two stages, each requiring Dark Elixir for construction and upgrading. The initial stage comes with a price tag of 255,000 Dark Elixir and takes 11 days to finish the construction process. Subsequently, the second stage will cost 270,000 Dark Elixir and will require 12 days for the upgrading procedure.
Level | Base DPS | Base Damage per Shot | Bonus Damage per Shot | HP |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 150 | 225 | 11% | 4,747 |
2 | 175 | 262.5 | 12% | 5,050 |
New Defense: Spell Tower
Unlike conventional defensive constructions, the Magic Turret operates differently. Rather than launching projectiles at adversaries, it triggers a magical spell within its surrounding area, mimicking offensive spells wielded by players. The Magic Turret allows players to select from three distinct types of spells to safeguard their base.
- Rage Spell (to boost the damage of nearby defenses and units): At level 1 with an upgrade cost of 11 million Gold and time of 9 days, and 2500 HP.
- Poison Spell (to damage the enemy units overtime): At level 2 with an upgrade cost of 12 million Gold time of 10 days, and 2800 HP.
- Invisibility Spell (to temporarily conceal defenses, units, and buildings): At level 3 with an upgrade cost of 13 million Gold time of 11 days and 3100 HP.
New Troop: Root Rider
As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but get excited about the latest addition to my Clash of Clans arsenal – the Root Rider! This badass Elixir troop becomes available at Town Hall 15 once you upgrade your Barracks to Level 17. Much like her name implies, she’s got the raw power to bust through walls and annihilate defenses with ease.
When it comes to strategically creating opportunities in my battles, nothing beats the Root Rider. She’s all about targeting specific defenses, unleashing her devastating single-target attacks. The best part? She’s perfect for swiftly carving openings in my opponents’ defenses!
- Preferred Target: Defenses
- Attack Type: Single Target (Ground only)
- Housing Space: 20
- Movement Speed: 12
- Attack Speed:
- Regular Attack Speed: 2.2s
- Attack Speed vs. Walls: 0.4s

2 | 230 | 10K | 7600 | 12d | 19M |
3 | 250 | 10K | 8000 | 14d | 20M |
New Siege Machine: Battle Drill
At Workshop level 7, you’ll gain access to the Battle Drill maneuver. This tactical move allows it to dig underground, making it invisible to enemy defenses. When it re-emerges, it will charge towards the closest defense and stun its target for a duration of 2 seconds.

New Pets
We will have four new pets that will be unlocked in Town Hall 15.
Frosty
At level 5, it becomes active, assisting the hero by attacking and decreasing the speed of enemy heroes or structures that the hero is targeting. Additionally, Frostmites are dispatched, which hop onto surrounding defenses to slow them down too.
- Favorite Target: Within 4.5 tiles of Hero
- Damage Type: Single Target (slows down defenses)

Phoenix
At level 8, this unit is released alongside the hero in an egg form and stays nearby, making it untargetable by enemies. If the hero is close to being defeated, it revives them with a temporary invulnerability, followed by a spell of offensive action as an aerial troop.
- Favorite Target: Hero’s Target
- Damage Type: Area Splash
- Targets: Ground & Air

Miscellaneous tips
- The magic items are really useful to use either in the Lab or the Clan Castle. You can get your offense going strong that way.

The Warden, however, needs Elixir, whereas other heroes require Dark Elixir. You have the flexibility to improve both your Warden and any other Dark Elixir heroes like the Archer Queen simultaneously.
