Story Highlights

  • Dark and Darker Mobile impresses with its dark fantasy setting, detailed environments, and fluid animations.
  • Unlike simple fetch quests, Dark and Darker Mobile requires players to actively collect and deliver items.
  • With room for improvements, Dark and Darker Mobile could be a game changer.

Excited to share my thoughts after playing a game I haven’t reviewed for some time – it was Dark and Darker Mobile. At the moment, it’s available in its soft launch phase only in Canada and the USA. I spent quite a while playing it and have both positive aspects and minor complaints to share in this first impression piece. In this article, I’ll delve into everything you should know about Dark and Darker Mobile.

A quick look into what it offers

Although I was aware that the mobile game I’m playing is related to the PC version of Ironmace, I must say it has a unique twist despite sharing the same fundamental aspects. Dark and Darker Mobile isn’t your typical role-playing game; it combines tactical dungeon exploration with resource gathering mechanics. Instead of firearms, you use swords, bows, and spells in combat, giving each battle a sense of gravity.

As a gamer, imagine stepping into an intense Player versus Player (PvP) dungeon raid where each battle could potentially cost you everything you’ve earned so far. You have multiple character classes to pick from: Fighter, Rogue, and Ranger, each with distinct abilities that greatly influence gameplay. To start off, I chose the Fighter since he was armed with a shield, although the class I really wanted seemed unavailable for some reason. Nonetheless, I’m ready to press onward!

The visual spectacle that is Dark and Darker Mobile

As a devoted fan, one thing that immediately grabbed my attention about Dark and Darker Mobile is its visually captivating nature. This game masterfully immerses you in its dark fantasy world with meticulously crafted surroundings, moody lighting effects, and finely tuned character designs. Unlike many other games, the customization screen didn’t cause any noticeable lag when showcasing high-quality visuals, making it a seamless experience for me.

Before diving into the game’s renders, I’d like to give credit to the animators. Incredible! The animations narrate a compelling tale, and I was captivated by their intricate details. Great job, folks! My iQOO Neo 7 Pro did a fantastic job handling the graphics, making it easy for me to appreciate the attention to detail in the shadows and lighting. Well done!

Dark and Darker Mobile brings a thrill of extraction

As a gamer, I employed the term “weighty” at the outset, and it really added an intriguing touch to the gameplay. However, while immersed in the game, I experienced a similar heaviness that made me feel the pace was too leisurely for my taste. To put it simply, the movement seemed sluggish, and the weight of every action felt heavy. The attack speed mirrored this sensation, making it seem as if the game was running at 0.75x, a slower pace that some might appreciate, but left me feeling somewhat resistant. The interactions, when not set to “Auto”, were noticeably slow-paced, suggesting areas for potential enhancements in the future.

Fighting isn’t just about blindly pressing buttons. You need to strategically position your attacks, tactfully time your shots, and intelligently navigate the battlefield. The AI enemies may seem easy in normal mode, but every match will confirm that they are far from it. I appreciate the variety of skeletons and bosses this game offers, making combat enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the three-player cooperation mode, working together effectively to vanquish these boneless adversaries – a truly engaging experience.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this game lies in its loot acquisition system. Venturing into dungeons, you aim to gather as much treasure as you can before a foe or creature defeats you. Equipment matters significantly; you can retrieve potent weapons and armor from fallen enemies, which you can then use, but if you perish, all your acquisitions are forfeited. The thrill of looting increases when there are numerous crates strewn about, the potential for enhancements as you progress is truly astounding.

Apart from being enjoyable, some of these tasks are also interactive rather than just typical fetch-and-carry missions. For example, instead of simply picking up an object, I had to hand over specific items to finish the Golem Core quest, which added a sense of accomplishment and made the experience more engaging.

Final Thoughts

In my initial assessment, I may have gone into greater depth than intended since this isn’t a comprehensive review, but I mainly focused on the advantages because there weren’t any noticeable flaws. As mentioned earlier, I would have preferred if the gameplay were slightly quicker, and I believe the user interface could be enhanced with larger, more intuitive icons for easier navigation.

I skipped over the microtransactions because I believe they’ll be addressed at the official release. This game offers an enjoyable console-like experience, and with some more polishing, it could become a truly exceptional one. As you eagerly await the worldwide launch, I hope this initial review piques your interest about what lies ahead.
