I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!

At the Super Bowl LIX, set to take place at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to face off for the prestigious trophy. However, these two teams won’t be the only competitors present; President Donald Trump and famous musician Taylor Swift will also grace the event with their presence.

Trump and Swift, who were named TIME’s Person of the Year in 2024 and 2023 respectively, share a tumultuous history. They’ve taken jabs at each other due to their contrasting political beliefs and actions. Initially, Swift steered clear of expressing political opinions during her career, but she threw her support behind a Democratic Senate candidate in Tennessee’s election of 2018. Trump reacted publicly to Swift’s endorsement, and since then, both parties have exchanged several remarks.

Given that both Trump and Swift appeared at the Super Bowl, let’s take a glance at their tumultuous past.

October 2018: Trump responds to Swift’s endorsement of Democratic candidate

Previously abstaining from political endorsements, Taylor Swift publicly backed Democrat Phil Bredesen in the 2018 senatorial race against Republican Marsha Blackburn. Swift expressed that Blackburn’s voting history in Congress left her feeling both appalled and terrified.

At the White House a few days later, Trump was asked about the endorsement by reporters.

Trump remarked, “Taylor Swift is likely unaware of Blackburn,” and further stated, “I’ve grown to enjoy her music approximately 25% less as a result.

August 2019: Swift says Trump thinks he’s in an “autocracy”

During an interview with The Guardian, Taylor Swift openly expressed her disapproval of Donald Trump following her decision to remain neutral during the 2016 elections. In response to questions regarding the Trump administration, she stated:

We claim to be a democracy, but sometimes it feels more like one where disagreement and debate are allowed, rather than a reality. It seems to me that she believes we’re operating under an autocratic rule instead.

Additionally, she confided in the media source that she harbored deep regret for not speaking up during the 2016 election battle between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee.

January 2020: Swift reveals more in her Miss Americana documentary

2020’s Netflix film “Miss Americana” offered viewers a glimpse into Taylor Swift’s thought process as she supported Democrat Phil Bredesen over Republican Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee’s Senate election. However, the race ended with Blackburn securing the victory.

In the documentary, Swift refers to Blackburn as “Trump in a wig.”

May 29, 2020: Swift tells Trump “we will vote you out”

In response to the demonstrations sparked by George Floyd’s death, Swift openly opposed the President. Meanwhile, Trump issued a message on X (previously known as Twitter), threatening protesters in Minnesota with the statement, “If rioting ensues, so will shooting.” This post was marked by Twitter for promoting violence—a move that took place nearly two years before Elon Musk, a backer of Trump and the head of DOGE, acquired the platform.

Later on, Swift spoke out via the same social media channel, targeting Trump’s post directly. “After fanning the flames of white supremacy and racism throughout your presidency, it’s audacious for you to claim moral high ground before issuing a threat,” she penned. ” ‘When looting begins, so does the shooting’??? We will make sure to vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrumpp.”

or

Swift subsequently used the same social media outlet to call out Trump. “With your actions fostering white supremacy and racism throughout your presidency, it’s astonishing that you would attempt to present yourself as morally righteous before inciting violence,” she commented. ” ‘If looting happens, so will shooting’??? We will oust you in November. @realdonaldtrumpp.

August 2020: Swift calls out Trump for actions towards the USPS

Back in August 2020, Trump openly stated his objection to providing extra funds for the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), a move designed to complicate the process of delivering mail-in ballots.

On X, Swift called out the President over his actions.

In a strategic move, Trump’s undermining of the U.S. Postal Service strongly suggests that he understands we do not support him as our President. He has opted for brazen deceit and is endangering millions of lives merely to maintain his grip on power.

October 2020: Swift endorses Biden over Trump

In her initial endorsement for the presidency, Taylor Swift publicly declared her support for President Joe Biden over Donald Trump during Trump’s first re-election bid. In an issue of V Magazine published in fall 2020, Swift expressed her views to the publication that the most significant change required is electing a president who understands that people of color should feel secure and represented, women should have control over their own bodies, and the LGBTQIA+ community deserves recognition and inclusion.

When the topic was released, Swift posted the interview on social media, humorously stating that it was “perfectly timed” to come out during the Vice Presidential debate. The artist further mentioned that she would be cheering on then-Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris by vocalizing her opinions loudly while watching TV.

November 2023: Trump says his song “beat Taylor Swift”

In the year 2023, Trump adopted a song titled “Justice for All,” which was performed by inmates who were imprisoned due to their suspected involvement in the January 6th, 2021 insurrection. This tune was repeatedly played at Trump’s rallies during that same year, and briefly reached the top spot on iTunes, as reported by the Associated Press.

At a gathering scheduled in 2023, Trump mentioned a tune to an audience in Houston, Texas, saying, “It outranked Taylor Swift, it outranked Miley Cyrus.” He further added, “They were number one and two, but we held the top spot for quite some time.

February 2024: Trump says he’s made Swift “so much money”

During the intense competition between Biden and Trump in the presidential race, before Harris became the Democratic nominee, Trump published a post on Truth Social, taking credit for the 2018 Music Modernization Act and suggesting that Taylor Swift wouldn’t support Biden’s re-election campaign.

In a post, he stated that I was the one who supported the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other musical artists. He implied that Joe Biden had no role in this, nor will he ever have any part in it. He suggested that given Taylor’s financial gains from me, it would be inconceivable for her to endorse ‘Crooked Joe Biden’, a president who is widely regarded as the most corrupt in our nation’s history, and betray the person who brought her significant wealth.

June 14, 2024: Trump reportedly questions why Swift would endorse Biden

On platform X, CNN Capitol Hill correspondent Melanie Zanona shared that during a gathering with House Republicans, Donald Trump reportedly challenged the endorsement of President Biden by Taylor Swift.

Trump remarked, as per Zanona’s report, “What makes her support such a dud? He seems clueless about exiting a platform.

June 18, 2024: Trump is quoted calling Swift “unusually beautiful” but “liberal”

Discussion surrounding Trump and Taylor Swift resurfaced following the June 18 publication of a book called “Apprentice in Wonderland: Navigating America with Donald Trump and Mark Burnett,” penned by Ramin Setoodeh, co-editor-in-chief at Variety. In this book, Setoodeh reveals remarks attributed to Trump about Swift during a conversation that took place in November 2023.

In a conversation with Setoodah, it’s reported that Trump said, “I believe she’s exceptionally attractive – incredibly so! I suspect she isn’t a fan of mine. Yet, I hear she’s extraordinarily gifted. To be honest, I think she’s strikingly beautiful.

August 2024: Trump posts AI-generated images of Swift and her fans endorsing him

Around the middle of August 2024, Trump shared a collection of pictures on Truth Social, which appeared to depict Taylor Swift supporters wearing “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) T-shirts with the phrase “Swifties for Trump.” However, it was later discovered that these images were digitally crafted using artificial intelligence.

As a movie buff, I’m thrilled to declare my affirmative response! This headline signals Trump’s agreement to a non-legitimate endorsement, artificially created by AI.

Sept. 10, 2024: Swift’s endorsement of Harris

Right after the Trump-Harris debate wrapped up, I hopped onto my social media platform of choice and made it official – I endorsed the former Vice President for the upcoming election.

Much like many of you, I tuned into the debate tonight,” Swift wrote on her Instagram post dated September 10th, addressed to her more than 200 million followers. “In the 2024 Presidential Election, I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I’m casting my vote for @kamalaharris as she stands up for the rights and causes that I believe require a fierce advocate to champion them.

She labeled her post with her name along with “Cat Lady Without Children,” a nod to Vice President J.D. Vance’s contentious remarks towards his Democratic adversaries and those who opt not to have children, derisively referring to them as “cat ladies.

Swift clarified in a post that she discovered an AI imposter had wrongly endorsed Donald Trump’s presidential campaign on someone else’s site, prompting her to clarify her political stance.

Sept. 11, 2024: Trump disparages Swift in an interview

On the television program “Fox & Friends,” Trump was questioned about Taylor Swift’s endorsement of his rival, Kamala Harris. In response, Trump expressed a preference for “Mrs. Mahomes” (a reference to Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes), over Swift, as Swift is currently dating Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Chiefs.

Trump commented on the pop star, stating she’s quite progressive. “It appears she consistently supports Democrats,” he added, “and she may face consequences for that in the marketplace.

Sept. 15, 2024: Trump says he “hates” Swift

5 days following Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Harris for the presidency, Trump shared “I DESPISE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on his social networking platform, Truth Social.
