Kevin Costner’s Kids Stand by Him at Premiere Amid Ex-Wife’s Shocking Engagement News!

On a Friday during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Kevin Costner attended the premiere of his Western film, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, accompanied by three of his children.

The 70-year-old man known for his role on Yellowstone posed alongside his daughter Grace, aged 14, and sons Hayes, 15, and Cayden, 17, a week after news broke about his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner’s, 50, engagement to Josh Connor, their former friend.

Costner, who seemed taken aback by the news, maintained a cheerful demeanor as he marketed his new film. The project had earlier been withdrawn from cinemas following the disappointing performance of its initial release.

The actor looked dapper in a three-piece dark suit and sported a white button-up shirt underneath. 

The doting dad proudly posed with the trio, whom he shares with Baumgartner.

While Christine was spotted purchasing coffee in Santa Barbara on Friday, she also showed off her new engagement ring with a brief peek.

Apart from his three children with Baumgartner, the Oscar winner is also a parent to three adult kids – Annie (40), Lily (38), and Joe (37) – from his previous marriage with Cindy Silva, and has a 28-year-old son named Liam with his former partner Bridget Rooney.

In a neatly coordinated outfit, Hayes, Kevin’s youngest child, sported a smart black button-up shirt and matching trousers, accessorized with stylish white sneakers.

His older son Cayden sported a long-sleeve grey top, black jeans and white sneakers.

Meanwhile Grace looked chic in a floral dress and beige sandals.

While at the festival, Costner was pictured catching up with director Quentin Tarantino. 

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 is the second installment of a Western movie franchise, helmed by and featuring Kevin Costner both as director and actor.

In July 2024, the movie was withdrawn from cinemas, surprisingly so given that the actor had personally invested $38 million into the failing $100 million production.

In the United States, Horizon Chapter 1 premiered on June 28, 2024, with Chapter 2 set for a theater release on August 16, 2024. However, the first part has received harsh criticism from critics and has struggled to draw audiences, following Kevin Costner’s high-profile departure from Yellowstone.

Kevin Costner’s production company, Territory Pictures, along with their distribution ally, New Line Cinema, chose to simultaneously launch Chapter 1 on Premium Video-On-Demand (PVOD) and in theaters on July 16. The release date for Chapter 2 has been postponed indefinitely.

Representatives from Territory Pictures and New Line Cinema announced that they won’t be releasing “Horizon: Chapter 2” on August 16. Instead, they want to provide audiences with more time to explore the initial installment of “Horizon,” which can be found on Premium Video On Demand (PVOD) and MAX in the upcoming weeks.

Costner previously told Empire he has taken a gamble by releasing the saga in cinemas.

He said: ‘I had somebody who said, ‘Look, please don’t do this, Kevin, let’s do this.’

“I’m content with my actions. I hold faith in the cinematic experience and its impact. Similarly, I trust the future of television productions. To clarify, I don’t alter my work after it’s been made – the version you see is the director’s cut.

Kevin Costner, valued at approximately $250 million due to his role in “Dances with Wolves,” stated: “I may not be reckless, but I’m not timid.

This film will be mine and my family’s possession for the entirety of our lives. Movies hold significance beyond their initial release weekend; they carry value throughout their lifespan, and I will retain ownership of this movie for as long as I live.

‘People will discover this, and regardless of when they do so, they’ll encounter something exceptional. They’ll come across a tale that they’ll either want to experience again themselves or recommend to others. To me, that’s the essence of cinema.’

I’d prefer to have the money returned, but truthfully, I can handle things if it doesn’t work out.

Costner had disclosed in June 2022 that he intended to produce a total of four Horizon movies, with them being filmed consecutively.

Chapter 3 of the film saga started shooting in May 2024. Chapter 4 is in development.

On Friday, while Kevin was attending the festival, Christine took pleasure in going out for coffee, after hearing about her engagement.

She looked chic in a camel coat over a grey top and blue jeans paired with sneakers.

Additionally, it seems that friends of the pair weren’t taken aback by the proposal; however, the announcement left Costner feeling betrayed, as he learned about it from his own children according to inside sources.

A reliable source revealed to DailyMail.com on an exclusive basis that Kevin seemed taken aback, almost as if he had been surprised and hit hard, when his children informed him about the marriage proposal.

He mentioned that he’d rather learn it directly from Christine, yet he finds it hard to avoid the sense of betrayal, no matter how long has passed.

He recently had his birthday,” the friend remarked, “and it’s good that they held off on the announcement for at least a week.

‘Kevin will do what he always does and that’s focus on his kids and his work,’ the source added.

Regarding dating, Kevin mentioned that it’s not something he’s focusing on at the moment. He clarified that he’s open to the idea, but it’s not actively pursued; if it happens naturally, then so be it.

In May 2023, after being married for 19 years and sharing custody of their three children, Costner and Baumgartner decided to part ways. Remarkably, Baumgartner began a new relationship with someone named Connor during the same year.

On January 26th, the couple became engaged at a private dinner in Santa Barbara, as reported by People magazine.

During an intense court session in August, Christine contended that their kids were accustomed to a lavish way of living, suggesting that their opulent lifestyle was deeply ingrained within them.

Baumgartner previously wanted to overturn her prenuptial agreement so she could receive alimony.

Baumgartner filed for divorce from Costner in May 2023 citing irreconcilable differences.

She was ordered to vacate Costner’s $145million Carpinteria compound two months later.

In July 2023, Baumgartner was seen with Connor, who used to be neighbors with Costner, in Hawaii. It’s worth mentioning that Connor is a divorcee and has three kids under his care.

Their romance was confirmed in January 2024.

It’s now known that Costner believed there might be something between Christine and Josh.
