Sarah Michelle Gellar Dazzles at Critics Choice 2025 After Shocking Buffy Reboot Revelation!

On Friday evening, Sarah Michelle Gellar gracefully glided down the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards, looking like a stunning vision.

47-year-old actress from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, adorned in a sleek, strapless black dress with an expansive black blossom decoration right at the center of the torso, graced the event.

She opted for a minimalistic approach with her accessories, donning silver earrings and sporting a black handbag adorned with a silver buckle.

The Ringer star wore her long blonde hair in a bouncy ponytail with face-framing tendrils.

Gellar had a healthy, sun-kissed glow across her face, neck, shoulders and chest. 

This week, the mother of two finally spoke up regarding the possibility of playing Buffy Summers again in a remake of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This change of heart comes after years of insisting that she was against rebooting the series.

The Emmy winner revealed that meeting with Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao changed her mind.

Three years past, a call arrived from my cherished friend and guide, Gail Berman. She proposed a meeting between us and Chloé Zhao, so she could share her thoughts about the possibility of a Buffy comeback.

Despite being astonished that Chloé recognized her, Gellar admitted she remained apprehensive and couldn’t envision how the show could be resurrected again.

To be completely honest, her words were music to my ears when she mentioned meeting Zhao – I could tell it was more than just a casual invitation. It seemed like there was an extra depth, a hidden melody in Professor Berman’s voice that had piqued her curiosity.

She ultimately decided to join (primarily because she wanted to meet Chloé), and what was supposed to be a brief twenty-minute coffee break transformed into a four-hour journey instead. We shared laughter, tears, but mostly engaged in heartfelt conversations about how significant this show is to us, she shared with her audience.

At the gathering, Gellar pointed out that she hadn’t consented to any decisions made, yet was taken aback when she decided to carry on with the discussion.

After some time, we brought aboard the fantastic duo, Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, expanding our small group. Eventually, we hit upon a brilliant idea, she explained.

Later on, the star spoke directly to her followers, saying in a letter, “Over the years, I’ve taken your suggestions about bringing back Buffy and her universe seriously. However, I couldn’t proceed with this idea unless I was confident that we could get it just right.

It was recently announced last week that Hulu is nearly ready to commission a pilot episode for a revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with the leading actress expected to take up an executive producer role in the series.

Swiftly, devotees of the initial series flooded social media with their displeasure and concerns that the reboot might tarnish the brand.

Ever since the tantalizing hint of a reboot dropped on The Drew Barrymore Show back in December, I’ve been on the edge of my seat, practically vibrating with anticipation! Now, finally, the official announcement has arrived, and I can barely contain my excitement!

Sarah admitted, “For a long time, I’ve been resistant to the idea of a reboot, as it seemed untouchable and already flawless. However, observing shows like Sex and the City and Dexter made me understand that there are indeed innovative methods to approach such projects.

Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, the creators behind “Poker Face”, are crafting and writing the script for the forthcoming installment in the “Buffyverse”, and it appears they’re currently assembling a team of writers to continue the project.

Zhao, known for being a dedicated Buffy fan throughout her life, is set to oversee and direct the pilot episode in her initial contract with 20th Television and Searchlight TV.

From the heart of every dedicated viewer, I can’t help but gush about how Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this legendary supernatural drama, ruled our screens for an incredible seven seasons from 1997 to 2003, first on The WB and later on UPN. This captivating series even gave birth to Angel, David Boreanaz’s enthralling spin-off, which graced our televisions for a stunning five seasons from 1999 to 2004, once more on The WB. The power these shows held over us is still felt today!

However, everything started when Joss Whedon came up with the idea for Buffy, a character he developed following his work on the 1992 movie directed by Fran Rubel Kuzui. This film originally featured Kirsty Swanson in the role of the slayer.

2021 marked the conclusion of a controversial career in entertainment for a 66-year-old individual, following persistent accusations of abusive and harmful conduct on set, as reported by actors Ray Fisher, Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, and Charisma Carpenter.
