The White Lotus star reveals how season 3 is different from other seasons
As a devoted admirer putting pen to paper, let me share my insights on how the third season of “The White Lotus” is set to diverge from its predecessors, as divulged by the series’ radiant star, Michelle Monaghan.
Next weekend, the highly anticipated HBO anthology series will make its comeback, shifting the storyline to Thailand where we encounter a fresh set of (mainly) unfamiliar characters.
One of the characters in it is Jaclyn, portrayed by Monaghan. She joins forces with Kate, played by Leslie Bibb, and Laurie, depicted by Carrie Coon. These three friends have been close for some time, and they embark on a girls’ vacation together overseas.
In a conversation solely with Digital Spy, Monaghan elaborated on how the third season’s exploration of themes like death and spirituality distinguishes it from the initial two seasons.
She stated, “What I adore about it is the themes of mortality and the spirit world, as they truly capture what sets this season apart from the first two.
In a recent statement, Monaghan noted that the creator, Mike White, masterfully blends Western cultural aspects with Eastern philosophies, spirituality, and Buddhism in the latest episodes.
Our characters find it quite challenging because it’s a blend of light and dark elements – it juxtaposes the superficial glamour of the West against the depth and contrast of Thailand,” she explained instead.
“These characters all go on a very windy journey.”
Prior to the start of the new season for “The White Lotus”, an exciting and intense preview was unveiled, revealing the fresh faces who each conceal numerous mysteries.
Additional stars gracing the stage are: Jason Isaacs from “Harry Potter”, Parker Posey known for “Lost in Space”, Walton Goggins of “Fallout”, Aimee Lou Wood from “Sex Education”, and Lisa, a member of Blackpink. Natasha Rothwell will reprise her role as Belinda Lindsey from season 1.
* The third season of “The White Lotus” will debut on HBO and Max in the United States, as well as on Sky and NOW in the UK, starting from February 16th.
* Previous seasons (1-2) can be streamed on Sky and NOW.
