Robbie Williams ‘grateful for his smaller penis’ in raunchy AACTA Awards speech
At the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards Industry awards (AACTAs) held on Friday, Robbie Williams delivered a speech that was truly unforgettable.
At the well-regarded event, often referred to as the Australian equivalent of the Oscars, held at the Home of the Arts (HOTA) on Australia’s Gold Coast, the acclaimed British pop artist was performing when his biopic, titled “Better Man,” claimed the award for Best Film.
‘I wasn’t expecting this,’ the 50-year-old began, before launching into a wild diatribe.
He humorously expressed his gratitude for various conditions such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, learning disorders like dyslexia and dyscalculia, sleep disorders like insomnia and dyspraxia, low self-awareness and self-worth, social anxiety, body image issues, addiction, alcoholism, and a perceived smaller-than-average stature – without which, this movie wouldn’t have been created.
Williams later wowed the crowd with a performance of his biggest hit, Angels.
He shouted during the tune, “Alright everyone, it’s been a while, much too long, but today, let’s make an exception and bring this home!”, using the phrase ‘Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!’
Or simply:
He yelled during the song, “It’s been a long time, but for once, let’s end it here with ‘Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!’
The crowd then replied with the classic Australian chant: ‘Oi, oi, oi!’
At the conclusion of his act, Williams expressed his affection for Australia, stating, “I truly love you, Australia,” before departing to undoubtedly participate in the evening’s celebrations.
The eccentric special effects filled film also scored the Best Actor award for Jonno Davies.
In this role, the 32-year-old actor portrayed a fictitious version of Robbie Williams, transforming his likeness into that of a chimp through computer-generated imagery (CGI).
Surprisingly successful in Australia, the movie titled “Better Man” garnered recognition, with Damon Herriman winning the Best Supporting Actor award and Michael Gracey, an Australian director, receiving the Best Director prize.
The unique feature also won AACTAs for Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Original Score.
Better Man hit screens Down Under on December 26, and the movie has strong ties to Australia.
Despite becoming famous primarily in Europe, the majority of the shiny filming for the pop star’s performances was actually done in Melbourne.

As a seasoned lifestyle guide, allow me to share with you an imaginative account of my personal odyssey, chronicling my transformation from a cherished heartthrob in a UK-born boy band to a powerful stadium rocker. This captivating tale highlights the grit, resilience, and unwavering passion that fueled my journey towards stardom.
Among the Brit locations recreated for the film was London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The Docklands studio served as the workshop where they constructed the well-known theater, portraying a significant event in Robbie’s professional journey.
As a devoted admirer, I’m sharing that famous Melbourne landmarks featured in movie productions encompassed the Rod Laver Arena, the Intercontinental Melbourne hotel, the Cruden Farm in Langwarrin, and the Fawkner Bowls club – as reported by the Herald Sun.
The filming for the $173 million project was carried out at various locations including Crown Casino, the University of Melbourne, Melbourne Town Hall, Melbourne Pavilion, and Stella Maris Seafarers Centre, where several scenes were set.
Under the direction of Australian filmmaker Michael Gracey, known for helming the hit musical film The Greatest Showman, Better Man is marketed as a captivating blend of music and fantasy.
In a bizarre move, the young Robbie is depicted in the film as a monkey using CGI.
To create a lifelike ape-like figure, motion capture technology was employed to replicate Jonno Davies’ movements.

Additionally, we have Australian performers like Kate Mulvany (from The Great Gatsby) and Damon Herriman (known for Mr InBetween) as part of our cast.
Furthermore, the filmmaker and actor Anthony Hayes, who can be seen in the movie Gold that’s now available for streaming on Stan, makes an appearance as well.
Initially, Robbie gained popularity as part of the male band Take That. Subsequently, he embarked on a thriving solo journey in 1996, which was then marked by an uninterrupted series of successful UK singles and albums.
2006 saw Robbie set a record in the Guinness Book of World Records, as he managed to sell an impressive 1.6 million concert tickets within just one day.
The movie creators have taken great care to ensure their production stands apart from contemporary musical biographies such as Bohemian Rhapsody about Queen, and Rocketman concerning Elton John.
According to the official announcement, the movie is a comedic, song-filled story inspired by the life of a famous pop artist.
In the movie, they’ve taken a fresh spin on Robbie’s smash hits, and the visuals are nothing short of breathtaking. It delves into the inner struggles, the demons that this superstar has faced, not just on stage, but behind the scenes as well, from my perspective as an ardent fan.
During filming in 2022 at Docklands Studios in Melbourne, certain sequences were captured elsewhere internationally.

2000 people were hired in Serbia to reenact a Williams’ performance from the 2003 Knebworth Festival.
In her statement, Gracey expressed that it’s like a dream fulfilled for her to narrate Robbie Williams’ captivating, unique tale, right here in our hometown.
A vibrant, innovative spirit permeates the Melbourne film scene, and I’m confident that this film will flourish in this environment.
He further elaborated that Robbie embodies the ordinary man, and his tale is one that many can identify with, being deeply connected to the pursuit of one’s aspirations.
Simultaneously, Colin Brooks, the Minister for Creative Industries in Victoria, informed The Herald Sun that the movie significantly contributed to the state’s economic growth.
He asserted that the movie was the largest-scale production ever undertaken in Victoria. This project, in turn, generated approximately 2,920 jobs and injected about $142 million into the local economy.
