Anna Maxwell Martin lands next TV role for spinoff of popular show

Anna Maxwell Martin has joined the cast of For All Mankind‘s upcoming spin-off series, Star City.

As a devoted follower, I’m thrilled to share that we’re going back to the start of the “For All Mankind” alternate reality, where it was indeed the Soviets who made history by being the first to step foot on the moon – a fact announced not so long ago!

The narrative shifts focus this time: We delve into the account from beyond the Iron Curtain, revealing the experiences of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence personnel hidden within the Soviet space program. This group bravely assumed risks to drive human progress.

In a change of perspective, we now journey behind the Iron Curtain to unveil the lives of cosmonauts, engineers, and spies embedded in the Soviet space program. Their daring choices were instrumental in moving humanity forward.

As reported by Variety, Martin is set to play the role of Lyudmilla, who is depicted as the chief of the KGB surveillance unit stationed in Star City.

In a new development, the actress renowned as “The Motherland” star has been added to the already announced ensemble, which includes Rhys Ifans from “House of the Dragon,” who will portray the role of the primary architect behind the Soviet Space program, often referred to as its main engine.

The creators are planning for a fifth season of the series “For All Mankind” after the end of season four in January 2024, but an official release date has not been set as of now.

Additionally, I’d like to share some exciting news: The BBC murder mystery series titled “Ludwig,” created by Martin and David Mitchell, has been confirmed for a second season, which will see them reprise their roles as Lucy Betts-Taylor and John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor respectively.

Mitchell expressed his pleasure that John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor was unable to evade the grasp of the Cambridge police, which means he must still confront the persistent wave of perplexing crimes plaguing the city.

Since it premiered in September, Ludwig has been the BBC’s most successful scripted program since 2022, and the biggest launch of a comedy series in six years, with a total of 9.5 million viewers tuning in over a span of 28 days.
