Drew Barrymore’s Best Onscreen Kisser Revealed – It’s Not Who You Think!
During the latest episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” host Andy Cohen questioned Drew Barrymore about whom she considers her best on-screen kissing partner.
In a candid moment, the former child star, who is celebrating his 50th birthday this month, admitted, “What I really mean is, I have such a strong, non-romantic friendship with Adam Sandler.
In a different context, he’s not my romantic partner; instead, Jackie, his wife, is a cherished friend of mine. However, sharing the screen with him in films is delightful because I believe we symbolize something beyond sensual or passionate chemistry. We embody a genuine appreciation and admiration for each other instead.
In the movie “The Wedding Singer,” directed by Frank Coraci, released in 1998, Drew and a 58-year-old comedian initially portrayed romantic leads. This film grossed approximately $123.3 million at the box office and garnered a 72% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In 2004, Barrymore and Sandler teamed up once more for director Peter Segal’s romantic comedy titled “50 First Dates”. The film generated approximately $198.5 million at the box office and received a critical rating of 45% on Rotten Tomatoes.
In collaboration yet again, the producer-host of The Drew Barrymore Show and Adam starred together for the third time in Frank Coraci’s 2014 romantic comedy, Blended. This film garnered $128 million at the box office but received a poor rating of only 15% on Rotten Tomatoes.
‘The most wonderful aspect is that my wife adores Drew to such an extent that there’s no hint of jealousy whatsoever. She’s always encouraging him, saying something like, “Go for it!”‘ The SNL veteran shared this on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014.
Drew replied: ‘If you’re not being romantic enough, she will like, berate you behind camera.’
Adam reminisced about an instance when, during filming for The Blended set, his 50-year-old wife nodded disapprovingly following a particular scene.
‘She yells at me!’ Sandler said.
‘She said, “Just please, for the sake of women, get in there and just look a little more alive!”‘
On a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, I shared an amusing tidbit about my encounters with Adam Sandler’s family. It turns out that his daughter Sunny, who is 16 years old, along with Frankie, 10, and Olive, 12, have a soft spot for the film “50 First Dates”. They’ve actually watched it more than once!
The seven-time Emmy nominee exclaimed in disbelief, “Are you serious? You really want to watch this at this moment? To which they enthusiastically replied, “Absolutely!
As I prepared popcorn, they watched the entire movie. We had recently played three rounds of Monopoly earlier. They seemed to need some relaxation. They had already seen it before. Honestly, I was astounded, exclaiming, “Sandler’s kids are watching 50 First Dates together!” I couldn’t help but remark, “You’re mixing the energy streams!” It’s quite fascinating!
A year ago, Drew expressed her desire to collaborate with the Mark Twain Prize laureate and their regular acting partner Jennifer Aniston on a fourth film, which has a feel similar to Three’s Company or Death Becomes Her.
‘I really want to make it happen. Timing is everything,’ Barrymore told ET.
‘Since everyone is a producer, each of us has a company. Therefore, if we collaborate at the right time, we can bring about what we intend.’
However, a woman who has been divorced three times, known for publishing a quarterly print magazine under her own name, may find herself quite busy juggling the responsibilities of co-producing and hosting the second most popular daytime talk show in syndication, as well as producing and taking up the center square position on the revamped version of CBS’ Hollywood Squares.
Apart from that, Drew likewise boasts influence with collaborations on sponsored deals with companies such as MSC Cruises US, Walmart, GarnierUSA, and Command.
