Hugh Bonneville is reprising his role as Ian Fletcher in the new series Twenty Twenty Six, a spinoff of the popular mockumentary W1A. This marks the third installment in the series, which originally received a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season.
After the success of Twenty Twelve, which humorously depicted the inner workings of the 2012 London Olympics, Twenty Twenty Six brings back Ian Fletcher. He’s now facing a new challenge as the Director of Integrity for the organization running a major international football tournament.
Okay, so I just saw on the BBC’s website that this tournament is going to be absolutely massive for Ian – they’re saying it’s the biggest one yet! Sounds like things are about to get pretty crazy.

Okay, so the BBC just dropped a little preview of this new six-part series, and it sounds wild! It’s all about the World Cup being hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico – basically, a massive tournament spread across North America with 48 countries involved. They’re joking about what could possibly go wrong, and it looks like the main character, Ian Fletcher, is getting thrown right into the chaos as part of the oversight team in Miami. Sounds like a recipe for disaster… and awesome TV!
Ian Fletcher expressed his excitement about joining the Oversight Team in Miami for this special event. He compared his new role in Integrity to a soccer game, saying it’s a unique chance to define objectives and achieve them internationally.
What to Read Next
Ian now needs to quickly get up to speed, all while dealing with the excitement of hundreds of millions of football fans eager for the games to start.
In a recent statement, Bonneville explained that his character, Ian, has changed and developed over time, giving viewers a better understanding of his current life.
The word ‘evolution’ naturally brings to mind the idea of change – how simple life forms like amoebas gradually developed into upright humans, and eventually, modern people. Ian feels he’s somewhere in the middle of that process, still developing.
Ian is incredibly calm and collected, no matter how chaotic things get around him. He always manages to stay balanced and in control, even when everything is falling apart. He’s a natural problem-solver, able to handle any situation, even if it seems impossible – it’s like he can wrangle cats, even without any cats or treats!

So, I’m really excited for the new season! They’ve brought back Hugh Skinner as Will Humphries, who used to be Ian’s assistant at the BBC. That guy was hilarious – always managed to mess up even the simplest things, which made for some great comedy. Can’t wait to see what trouble he gets into this time around!
Nicole Sadie Sawyerr stars as Emily Nash, now working as Ian’s personal assistant. Alexis Michalik plays Ian’s boss, Eric Van Dupuytrens. Chelsey Crisp joins the cast as Sarah Campbell, Ian’s new colleague, responsible for making the football tournament environmentally friendly.
Twenty Twenty Six is available to watch tonight on BBC Two at 10pm and on iPlayer and BBC Two.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! This special 100-page, full-color magazine celebrates the life and work of Sir David Attenborough. You can find it at newsstands or order it online.
