Liam Payne’s partner, Kate Cassidy, shared that they maintained ‘independent lives’ during their relationship, as she broke her silence after his passing at the age of 31.

Last October, One Direction member tragically passed away following a fall from a balcony on the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was there vacationing to watch his ex-bandmate, Niall Horan, perform.

Kate, aged 25, was with Liam in Argentina, however, she decided to depart a day ahead of schedule so she could take care of their rescue dog, Nala, back at their residence in Florida.

The New Jersey-based social media influencer expressed regret for cutting her trip short, as she hadn’t anticipated any unfortunate incidents.

She shared with The Sun: “It was a devastating mishap, and I had never contemplated it would end like this. However, to clarify, we often lived independent lives – this instance of traveling apart was not unprecedented.

I honestly didn’t expect things to unfold like this, and it’s hard for me to accept that he’s no longer around. The reality of his absence still feels surreal.

Kate added that she and Liam preferred to maintain their independence, meaning they wouldn’t keep in touch frequently when they weren’t together.

She mentioned that even though we’re apart, we don’t excessively message one another on a constant basis, as she put it.

Kate continues to dial Liam’s number just to listen to his voicemail greeting. Previously, she would drift off to sleep while listening to his music, but these days, it brings her too much sadness.

Kate asserted that she recognized the duo as each other’s soulmates right from their initial encounter, an incident that took place when she worked as a waitress in South Carolina. However, her affection for him dated back to when she was just 10 years old, convinced as she was that their paths were destined to cross.

Liam postponed returning home, instead spending two days with her in a hotel, marking the start of a romantic adventure she refers to as a “fairy tale love story.

The heartbroken girlfriend praised the singer as the kindest and most endearing individual she’d encountered, emphatically stating that she should not be held responsible for the passing of her loved one.

Before a call from one of Liam’s friends interrupted, she was enjoying the coziness of their home with their cherished pet dog.

After that, she reached out to her boyfriend’s relatives, and her mom hastily booked the earliest available flight to go see her distraught daughter, who was trying to cope with the heartbreaking information.

Later on, Kate came to understand that her message to Liam, “I can’t wait for you to return so we can both appreciate the Halloween-decorated house,” appeared quite ordinary. In truth, she had put a lot of effort into making their home festive and was eager to share the results with him.

Three days following Liam’s passing, a worker who had been employed for decoration repair reached out, inquiring if Liam had taken a liking to the Halloween surprise that had been prepared.

She said that was the moment when it finally sank in that he was never coming home.

Liam openly discussed his experiences with mental health issues and his previous fights against substance abuse. He attempted various methods, including counseling and rehabilitation programs, to overcome these challenges.

The evening he passed away, his hotel room was filled with items suggestive of drug use and an uncorked champagne bottle.

On October 16, Liam tragically lost his life following a prolonged consumption of alcohol and drugs, which occurred while he was temporarily residing at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires.

The medical reason for his demise has been disclosed as ‘polytrauma,’ implying that he sustained numerous severe bodily injuries due to trauma.

Five individuals are facing charges in Argentina following the fall of a singer from a balcony on the third floor of a hotel, which resulted in his death.

According to earlier statements from Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office, the hotel manager, a receptionist, and a friend of Payne are currently facing charges for manslaughter.

It has been reported that Gilda Martin serves as a hotel manager, Esteban Grassi is a receptionist, and Roger Nores is a friend of Payne. Additionally, two more individuals are facing charges related to drug distribution.

Because the investigation is still ongoing, Kate wasn’t able to reveal many details and didn’t verify if she had talked with Roger.

Despite this, she maintained that when she departed from Argentina, Liam was in an incredibly positive mental state, and their affection for each other had never been stronger.
