New Swedish crime drama branded ‘gripping’ by fans is now on Netflix

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but get excited when I hear about new additions to my streaming library! The Åre Murders, a fresh Swedish crime drama, has just made its way onto Netflix, and I have a feeling it’s going to be the next big binge-watch. Can’t wait to dive in!

For fans of a Nordic noir, on paper, the series has all the hallmarks of the genre.

The narrative revolves around a police officer named Hanna Ahlander. After being suspended from work and ending her relationship, she chooses to escape from bustling Stockholm to her sister’s vacation home in picturesque Åre – the backdrop for our tale.

The plot summary continues to disclose: “As a young woman vanishes during the frosty night of Lucia, Hanna finds herself compelled to delve into the mystery. With his own challenging family circumstances and an understaffed police department, local officer Daniel Lindskog initially resists Hanna’s involvement. However, he eventually agrees due to her persistence.

“But the big question is whether they can trust each other.”

The thriller titled “The Åre Murders” is inspired by two novels penned by the globally acclaimed Swedish author Viveca Sten: “Hidden in Snow” and “Hidden in the Shadows“. Readers of this series have generally provided favorable reviews on Amazon, praising the narrative as “compelling” and the plot as having a rich complexity.

The reader found it “engrossingly suspenseful until the very end,” while another described it as a “delightfully intriguing and thrilling mystery.

As a gamer, I’m super excited about the TV show adaptation! In my gaming world, we’ve got Carla Sehn joining us, along with Kardo Razzazi, Charlie Gustafsson, Francisco Sobrado, and Amalia Holm. Can’t wait to see them bring their characters to life!

Just a few weeks following the popularity surge of another Swedish crime drama titled “The Breakthrough” on Netflix, this fresh crime series has now made its debut.

The miniseries was among the UK’s Top 10 television programs, sharing the spotlight with other popular shows that were airing concurrently. These included season two of Squid Game, Harlan Coben’s latest production Missing You, and Keira Knightley’s espionage series Black Doves.

The Breakthrough” was referred to as a “story created from fiction,” drawing inspiration from Anna Bodin and Peter Sjölund’s 2021 real-life book titled “The Breakthrough: How A Genealogist Solved the Double Murder in Linköping“.

It’s uncertain if “The Åre Murders” will achieve similar streaming success, but we wouldn’t be shocked if it does.

The Åre Murders is available on Netflix now.
