The film Brooklyn, featuring Jim Broadbent, is now streaming on BBC. Critics have praised the 2015 movie, calling it “perfect,” and it’s currently the highest-rated drama on Rotten Tomatoes among all of Broadbent’s films.
With a remarkably high 97% fresh rating, this film ranks fifth overall. However, the four films ahead of it – Longford, New Town Utopia, Paddington 2, and Brazil – fall into different categories like TV movies, documentaries, family films, and science fiction, rather than being traditional dramas.
The new drama Brooklyn premiered on BBC One last night and is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer for the next 29 days.

This film, adapted from Colm Tóibín’s novel, features Saoirse Ronan as a young Irish woman who moves to New York in the 1950s. She establishes a life in America but finds herself caught between staying in the US and returning to her home in Ireland.
I’m so excited about this movie! It’s got an amazing cast – Domhnall Gleeson from The Paper, Emory Cohen who I loved in Marty Supreme, and the wonderful Julie Walters from Mamma Mia! are all in it. And it’s a big deal too, getting nominated for three Oscars, including Best Actress for Saoirse Ronan and even Best Picture! I really hope it wins!
